Varig

Anyone know if Varig are still flying? I know the employee group purchasing the airline had until Friday, June 23 to make a US$75 million deposit on their payment for the company. I heard they had to cancel two thirds of their schedule as of yesterday due to lack of funds and aircraft repossesions by Boeing and GE. I hope they make it. This is Brazils flag carrier and a truly great airline having flown on them numerous times.

I think TAM will be taking charge in Brazil now. I hope their national team doesn't have return tickets on Varig.

Yes they do have return tickets with VARIG. VarigLog is in the process of buying VARIG and they are putting money daily to keep the airline operating. It looks like they will be flying but with a reduced fleet and schedule. TAM is preparing to be Brasil's flag carrier now.
