Yea...really sucks to finish with only a 1st & a 2nd. I mean, they've had 90 whole days of operations to get this figured out. They must really be disappointed.

they aren't calling air tran premium. they are grading their premium class and our economy class, nice try though.

besides, that is how we market the 717 as a coach class. it will be different this summer when all of the 717's are converted as we will then have a clear signature section and a clear saver section on all of our aircraft (minus the charter birds). there is no chance we or air tran can compete with the business class seats (3/4 recline, inflight tv system, 6' of legroom, a massive overhead bin, etc) out there on wide bodies flying domestically for an award.

having sat in both style of seats (airtran biz class as they are always accomodating when j/s and try to put you in one of them and our signature) there are plusses and minuses to both. to each his own as to how they like entertainment and free drinks versus leg rests and brown leather.

besides 8% of air tran's 717 is premium versus 100% on our "coach" as Zagat defines our coach as (emphasis added):

....if it's had to "trim a bit" lately it's still an "excellent value" for premium-like service - ....

Nobody's afraid of a little honest competition. What does concern me is a cut throat company that will basically give a seat away just to fill. Be it Skybus or VA. It also bothers me when that cut throat company is owned by some spoiled rotten rich little british dip ******************** like RB. Don't give me that "it's American owned" line because I think we all know where the money is coming from. With pockets as deep as Sir Richards, VA can be like the energizer bunny and just keep going and going and going and going. Bush got his foreign ownership of america's airlines without even passing the legislation. This industry is truely screwed up.
