Does anyone know if ATP flightschool accepts VA benefits program? I tried to look up the info but couldnt find it? Thanks for any info!

NO, it sounded like there training syllabus wasn't compatible with the 141. I think we're stuck out at the mom and pop shops.

Good luck,

From my research they are not. Phoenix East and Flight safety are. There are others, do a google for part 141 schools.

Stay away from Phoenix East; unless you want your bank account sucked dry. They will milk you for flight hours until you're about ready to quit then let go for you checkride just to keep you hangin on. I finally wised up after 83 hours getting my pvt and told them to stick it.

If you're getting VA benefits, why not support your local Aero Club? They are specialists at it.

I'm trying to go somewhere and get my ratings as fast as possible I.e. ATP or something to that effect! Thanks for all the info so far! Anyone else have any input?

I posted this in another thred, but I think it might help you a bit:

Using your GI Bill depends a lot on where you live and where you're willing to train,

ATP (as in All ATPs) does not accept GI Bill, because they are not a Part 141 VA approved provider.

You need to contact the state veterans affairs office in the state you want to train and ask for a list of approved schools. Some states have them posted online.

The VA has a list of course, and they've been thinking about posting it online for many years. Someday they may actually do it. If you call them, they'll confirm a specific school's eligibility, but won't actually send you the entire list.

The bigger schools advertise their eligibility, so you can Google some of them up as well. Search for Part 141 schools first, since that is a prerequisite to become a VA approved provider.

Good luck. Remember that GI Bill will only pay 60% of the APPROVED cost (and 100% of your written test cost), and that you pay everything up front, and the VA reimburses you on their timeline.

Excellent point. Many students were having problems when I was a flight instructor because of the lax attitude of repaying funds. Many put the whole thing on a zero percent credit card. It seemed to help.

Also note that it will take up to 90 days from submission of the request for the VA to approve it. The good thing is that they will cover instruction (not including private pilot rating) for up to 1 year before the date of submission. So you do not need to wait for the approval to get started flying. As mentioned before, just make sure it is an approved flight school.

Many aero clubs and flying clubs are not approved by the VA. Check first before using them...
