But I thought the uSAPa dweebs kept telling everyone that the decert drive wasn't about the Nic award? If Nic isn't the issue here, then why a ridiculous neon yellow lanyard that says "seniority matters?" Is it about Nic or not, uSAPa dweebs?

I'm confused...do you even work at Scareways? If so flame on, if not...why do you care?

Everyone should care. If uSAPa is victorious, then the whole profession is harmed.

Everyone should care but you aren't alpa there at AT?
Look i support alpa in this case, for many of the reasons you do-- i just don't let alpa leadership off the hook for creating a very slow and somewhat corrupt system of representing pilots.

That being said- you at AAA can't have your contract amended 93 times over 10 years and blame it fully on you MEC/LEC's. When do the line pilots take responsibility for how they engage in ALPA? Why were there no proposals in 10 years to change the bylaws to force votes on LOA's? Then you can at least stop blaming your leaders. It is in United's bylaws that every LOA must be voted on. Same w/ FedEx. Same w/ DAL. Complete industry standard- but somehow you are a victim of backdoor boardroom deals? I'm sure you think it's not about Nic- that it's everything and Nic was the final straw- but it's not. You just have a union mentality that doesn't allow you to take responsibility for your own life. You've been complacent, plain and simple. And now the pendulum is swinging too far from center.
Plus the real problem is our seniority system in general. You've seen every other carrier be more successful and have better careers than you- even though at the time you were hired USAir was a top job and you've been excellent w/ one of the best training programs in the industry.
But yet- not one proposal for a National Seniority List from the AAA pilots? Not one?

You knew from day 1 that your seniority does not transfer company to company. Now you want the rules to change- in just this situation. The Nic award was fair.
It's our seniority system that is unfair and- more importantly- steals leverage from the pilot career.

No matter what they say- the AAA pilots are responsible. They wanted their MEC's to do whatever it took to keep USAir from liquidating and that gave them their current contract. They wanted their MEC to fight for DOH b/c that's what they believe... Heads would have rolled if the MEC had rolled over on DOH. I've heard a lot of AAA pilots say that if 'only our MEC had compromised'.... No way- you all want DOH now- just like you wanted it for 2 years through arbitration. You're the only ones who don't see how that would not have been remotely fair under our current seniority system.
And it is the AAA pilots who yell loudly that their seniority is not for sale. It's them who had leverage last summer for a new contract and to make gains back during a very VERY SHORT LIVED time of profitability. They gave away that leverage- b/c of our seniority system. But they did give it away. AAA pilots would have been better served in getting the much needed contract improvements and then fighting for a NSL through ALPA.

So does that mean you DO or DO NOT work there? The job will continue to get worse, regardless of what union is sopping up dues next week. I mean I guess I really don't see what the big deal is. Other airlines have independent unions and it seems to work OK for them. I don't think that USAPA has a real chance of overturning Nic, but then again stranger things have happened. This is Amerika after all.

Personally I like to see ALPA responding to actual, no kidding market pressure. This is the closest thing we can get to that.

The Show goes on and on

3 ALPA carriers bite the dust in as many weeks. MESA on the brink. But the ALPA "Mother Ship" show must go on. Business as usual! ALPA MEC meeting is being held at the at the Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC, described as one of the, “Top 100 Hotels of the World." Following are some of the descriptions of this hotel from their web site: "Quite simply we offer guests a new level of luxury." "Our elegant rooms and suites offer wonderful views. Our restaurant, CityZen, is under the guidance of Eric Ziebold, one of America’s ‘best new chefs’. Our spa facilities have earned one of the highest accolades in the region. Guests enjoy wonderful views over the stately city sights and waterfront. At Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC, we pride ourselves on providing a level of luxury that is unique in the American capital... grandeur that greets our hotel guests at every turn." Rooms with an airline discount run about $300/night. For those interested in learning more about the manner in which ALPA spends your dues dollars, click here to visit the Mandarin Oriental's web site. The hotel offers no shuttle service so those pilots wishing to attend must find their own way.

Big Unions and Big Downtown Churches, They will both eat thier young to survive and try to convince you its for your own good they do what they do.

Don't trust either one without keeping a suspect eye on them.

If you're basing your vote on where your representatives sleep, or how much the housing allowance of four people is, or how much money you THINK a secretary at national makes, you might want to rethink your priorities. How about voting on which union has a better chance of success, or which union will represent YOU better.

Voting in a union that will most likely fail because you don't like your MEC's hotel is not an intelligent decision.

VetRider,

I do not exactly have dog in this fight but what I know and understand of the current "urinary olympics" going on between east and west I would have to agree.
