"Designed to provide component efficent representation for all USAirways pilots"

Except me....cause I'm not gonna pay union dues to a union that I have no interest in belonging to. Oh,and by the way, thanks for the $260.00/ month payraise!! ;) " Free at last, free at last. Thank God I'm free at last."..... from union dues ,that is. ( with apologies to Dr. MLK)

These morons like jugling live grenades with the pins pulled don't they. The arbitration will still be there and we'll have no protection from another merger, because USAPA is a joke. They probably think they'll be able to raid our merger fund to pay for their union. What a double whamy it'll be when they find out the arbitration can't be changed and they can't steal the money. I think they're trying to say DOH, but it's coming out of their mouths as DUH.

This is like not studying for finals... then getting a failing grade and trying to sue the intructor for a poor test format....

I agree with you. If any of us could have had a crystal ball to predict the pathetic representation, starting at ALPA national, this would have been a common action to decertify.

Since we are being led by self serving leaders stuffing their pockets with hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in salary, the ALPA structure has no impetus to change.

Save your tireless wind about the membership being at fault. It is next to impossible to change this organization and further it is fiercely protected politically from within.

Unless of course you belong to an ALPA agency shop airline in which case you are forced to pay dues to ALPA or lose your job. But of course...once you are agency shop, your MEC and ALPA national can completely disregard the memberships will with no ill effect.

Takin' it back???? From who?????

FYI ,you don't have to pay union dues even if your airline is an agency shop ALPA carrier.

Technically, even as a nonmember you have to pay an agency fee which is around 85% of full dues. This is by law and if you don't pay the union can have the company terminate you. The fact that this rarely happens doesn't mean it couldn't.

i don't think the comany is going to fire 1800 pilots on the west. That would lead straight to a CH7.

At a previous carrier, wages were garnished for non-members. You have no say. Contract, Agency shop, RLA is law. There are loopholes for political fees, but agency fees are mandatory.

Opt out of dues checkoff

The way I did it was to opt out of dues checkoff and send them some amount of money at the END of the year. The amount I sent was inversely proportional to the amount of crap mail I got from ALPO and if I got lucky the day the check was due.
Stick to ALPO. If they don't have a cash flow, how will they be able to have those ridiculous exotic meetings and fancy dinners?

Wages can only be garnished due to a court ordering such to pay a debt. The union cannot sue you for non-payment of dues/agency fee, all they can do is compel the company to terminate you per the RLA.

I guess Prater shouldn't have listened to those idiots out East. Now they think they have a good chance.

Praters excuse for not submitting the list was to placate fence-sitters. Well, 3000 cards out of 5000 eligible voters pretty much blows that excuse away.

Now it's time for Prater to do what should have been done last May.

And Prater- Remember, you can't buy these guys into sanity.
