The time to take control of your careers was twenty years ago.... not two months ago...
Technically, even as a nonmember you have to pay an agency fee which is around 85% of full dues. This is by law and if you don't pay the union can have the company terminate you. The fact that this rarely happens doesn't mean it couldn't.FYI ,you don't have to pay union dues even if your airline is an agency shop ALPA carrier.
"cause I'm not gonna pay union dues to a union that I have no interest in belonging to"
Unless of course you belong to an ALPA agency shop airline in which case you are forced to pay dues to ALPA or lose your job. But of course...once you are agency shop, your MEC and ALPA national can completely disregard the memberships will with no ill effect.
Takin' it back???? From who?????
i don't think the comany is going to fire 1800 pilots on the west. That would lead straight to a CH7.
At a previous carrier, wages were garnished for non-members. You have no say. Contract, Agency shop, RLA is law. There are loopholes for political fees, but agency fees are mandatory.

I guess Prater shouldn't have listened to those idiots out East. Now they think they have a good chance.
