From another forum, there's more to that lady Captain's removal then just meets the eye in the press releases. Apparently, talks about repeatedly firing up the APU on batts only, just to drain the batteries.

Captain Grandma didn't have a clue as to how the electrical system worked. She damaged the aircraft and then had the "balls" to go address all the pax on the PA system AT THE GATE how unsafe her Airline was and how everybody there should go book their trip on another more "safe" Airline.

I hope they fire the MF'er. Her Yellow Lanyard can be her souvenir of a 30+ year career ending in Psychosis and humiliation courtesy of USAPA.

The ONLY people dumber than this Captain are the USAPA leadership who decided they'd twist the truth and publish a full page ad in USA Today over it. It's impossible to imagine that a group of Adults could possibly be this stupid. But alas....

The following message was sent last week from VP Flight Ops...

In order to set the record straight, the advertisement placed in the USA Today this morning is not correct. We have not been able to find any maintenance discrepancies with the A330 referenced in this morning’s ad. As a precaution, the aircraft batteries were removed and after extensive testing by our maintenance department and outside sources, it was further confirmed that no mechanical discrepancies existed. The batteries have been returned to service and the aircraft has been flying ever since without issue.


Additionally, we have worked with Airbus to get their opinion on what transpired with the aircraft. They agree that the aircraft performed exactly as designed in this instance.

Our Airbus Training Department is issuing a bulletin reminding crews of the proper procedure for testing the aircraft batteries. Please keep in mind that, while on the ground, the electrical system is designed to not deplete battery power and begins to shed other systems when battery voltage reaches 23 volts. This scenario will be emphasized in recurrent training going forward.
