It was nice knowing you USAirways. Guess I should start using up all my FF miles since your existence as an airline is over. You have officially "Jumped the shark". http://www.jumptheshark.com/index.jspa

You are now charging me $2.00 for a drink. Will I actually get an entire can now? Or will you still give me a cup of ice with 3 ounces of drink.

There is no hope left for you. You are desperate at this point. I have no doubt all the other airlines will follow your lead. But you were the first. You will once again seek bankruptcy protection, only this time no one will finance you, so you will be left with liquidation.

God help you if Southwest moves into CLT.

Newsflash: EVERYBODY except SWA is desperate now. No one can make money with oil over $125/bbl. TC

Maybe someone should hire you into management since you seem to have it all figured out...

I couldn't make anything out on the link, but your saying USair is charging people for soft drinks?

Do you get free drinks at McDs when you order a bigmac? What kind of freebies do you get at the hotels? Do they give you the bottled water($4), free food(way overpriced), cocktails($5-7 beers), local phone calls(.75) 800#s(same) internet($9.95+). You get my drift? Look the airlines are finally doing what every other industry has been doing for years. Nickel and diming your ass:) Get used to it. You are buying transportation nothing else. If you don't like the cost of the coke, buy one in the terminal.

In Orbitz,Expedia and Priceline land, there fares will show the lowest.Thats all that matters, the fact that when they get to the airport they will have to pay through the nose will be a shock to the bargain bucket set. There is a new airline catagory emerging forget Legacy,LCC enter the dawn of the nickel and dimer. The nickel and dimer will probably go under after a sharp speculative increase in the cost of Coca Cola!

Too bad US Airways didn't just raise their ticket fares $2 to cover the freaking soda.

Even Brian Williams was making fun of this yesterday on the NBC Nightly News...

Trying to think of other places where drinks don't come free:

movie theater
hotel room
theme park

Movie theaters, hotel rooms, and theme parks don't keep you in a small, pressurized metal tube in 5-10% humidity...

For 3, 4, 5 hours, plus restricting your movement much of the time. And there's no sneaking cheap water onto the plane either, thanks to the TSA.

Nor can you get up and use cheap alternatives like the hotel sink or water fountain at the movie theater. I wonder if anyone could sue the airline after getting terminal ill after drinking the "potable" water in the lav?

You know, I find it very, very funny that SKYBUS was given enormous grief over things like this (charge for checked bags, drinks, etc.), but every "respectable" carrier is falling over itself trying to dream up new ways to charge for everything.
