Multiple times when trying to jumpseat on Airways i have been asked by the gate agent if i am listed. Today when i responded "no" she just shook her head and asked to help the person in line behind me. I stepped aside and waited patiently of course but this has me wondering if there is some way for other airlines to list on usair jumpsets prior to the gate? Our official alpa jumpseat info says list at gate. Thanks.

Gate agents are stupid and lazy. I get asked that every time I go on united. I tell them all that you CAN'T list if you are offline, none seem to believe me.

It is NOT possible. Pisses me off when gate agents are too lazy to do their job.

800-325-9999; opt 3, opt 1, opt 1. They'll list you on the phone then the gate agent will have to fix it, but at least you've done your part.

It's actually more work for the agent if you list on the phone. The listing will be for a ZED fare, and they will have in to cancel it out and re-list you.

In defense of the Gate Agents...many times you get the people of the persuasion that just " can't understand normal thinking".

Unfortunately, we have laws in this country that force employers to hire people that can't necessarily do their jobs efficiently, but they look real good as a checkmark on an E.E.O.C. form.

I voted early today to try and correct that...

That's what I mean by the gate agent having to fix it. Yet I still get an attitude if I don't list ahead of time.

What a load of crap.

I got the same thing in AVL a few weeks ago from the USAirways ticket counter who tried to get me to go call and list and come back.

I politely explained to her that as an offline passenger I had no way of listing in advance for the jumpseat. She didn't believe me, so I asked her to give me the number to call and list and asked for her to explain to me how to get past the automated system that asks me for my USAirways employee number, which I don't have since I work for another airline.

She just gave me a blank look. I pulled out my phone and offered to put it on speakerphone while she showed me how it could be done. She just gave me a dirty look and listed me for the flight, which then canceled for Mx anyway.

I don't think it's a problem of whether or not someone is an EEOC candidate, but rather, that people in general are fat, lazy, and stupid. And as we all know, "You can't fix stupid." I just try to be friendly, professional, and internally thankful that I don't have to be around that person for more than a few minutes to get on the plane.

And FTR, I believe the EEOC should be abolished in safety-sensitive positions. You hire the best person for the job, regardless of age, race, gender, or religion. If that yields you a majority of a certain one of those demographics, that's just the way it goes.

What a load of crap.

Yes. Steamed and piled and submitted for YOUR approval....The "Eagles" of the World, with the "Eaglesview".

( Cue music: " Hail to the Chief " ...Da-dah-da-dah-da----dumpty-dumpty-dumb...)

P.S. - In true F.I. Spirit ---- I need to update my Flight Time to reflect that I have MORE than 13000 hours now, AND I am considering a bigger more wildly expensive Watch, AND my airline made huge profits last year, AND unequivocally stated, once again, for the Record and all Eternity...MESA SUCKS. So, I win. Again.

I thought it had to do with "you get what you pay for".
