ARLINGTON, Va. A U-S Airways official says the airline and its pilots union agreed early today on a new labor contract a week after the company asked a bankruptcy judge to impose pay cuts.

A spokesman for U-S Airways says terms of the contract were not immediately available.According to a message on the union's Web site, the management executive council of the Air Line Pilots Association will meet at 2 p-m today in Charlotte, North Carolina to decide whether to send the agreement to its members for ratification. The airline's largest hub is in Charlotte. The Retirement Systems of Alabama has invested heavily in U-S Airways.
Any details on to what the new terms may be?

This seems like the 10th cut in pay for BigU pilots in the last year, each month the company is asking for a new contract and concessions.

I am just curious to what a 73 FO&Capt are making an hour now? What were you making a yr ago? Also, didn't the monthly guarentee go up from @70 hrs to 85 hrs?

Thanks for any info. Good luck on the upcoming vote.

Who makes the decision of how many mainliners they can keep?

60 extra E-jets, in addition to the 85 170's? I guess they could order add'l 170's, but the cap is 60 on the 190's. Say good-bye to mainline eventually, and hello to MDA.

I think you are exactly right. At some point, MDA will reach critical mass, so to speak, and the A320s will be transferred over. Then the rest of USAirways will be shut down, and MDA will be your new USAirways.

Side note though, didn't they loose financing for the 170s? Where is financing for 190s going to come from??

The existing finance contract placed by Embraer through the BUNDES Bank of Brazil can be reinstated - if they come up with a viable business plan. The key is the business model they come up with in the next few weeks. If it's just a shrinking of the existing model, then BUNDES might not be interested.

You also may see RSA throw in another $350M for exit financing, provided they don't shelve the existing stock. That way Bronner doesn't lose his original investment. They hold 8 seats on the 15 seat board, so the stock probably will not be shelved.

Wonder how long before the Airbusses get transferred to MDA and U becomes extinct? After all, why not "express" people and pay them less for the same job they did yesterday?

US Air F100's @ YYC

Saw 5 F100's in US Air colors on the southeast end of the airport in Calgary, Alberta (YYC) yesterday. Looked like fresh paint jobs or either they were cleaned up very nicely. Could anyone elaborate?

Canadian company called JetsGo is buying up used F100's for their own services...

Not to be "Joe Anal" or anything but ther is no "certificate within a certificate". It just US Airways certificate. MDA is not recognized by the FAA. MDA was made up by management to get away with whatever they wanted to....

MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE #2

October 1, 2004

This is Jack Stephan with a second US Airways MEC update for Friday, October 1st, with one new item.

As we reported earlier today on the code-a-phone, the Negotiating Committee and US Airways management reached a TA on Letter of Agreement 93, the Transformation Plan. This TA is now posted on the pilots only website under “Negotiating Committee Information.”

Please remember that the information provided by your Negotiating Committee is proprietary and for the sole use of US Airways pilots, and is not to be copied or disseminated. Your MEC and Negotiating Committee thank you in advance for your cooperation.

The MEC will receive a briefing from the Negotiating Committee and advisors this afternoon at approximately 2 p.m. during the special MEC meeting being held in Charlotte. It is expected that the MEC will decide, by resolution, whether or not to send this Tentative Agreement out to the membership for a ratification vote. Under our current MEC policy, no agreement is effective until ratified by the membership.

The MEC meeting is being held at the Charlotte Marriott Executive Park, 5700 Westpark Drive, Charlotte, NC 28217. All US Airways pilots are encouraged to attend. The phone number for transportation is 704-527-9650.

Please stay updated on the status of the MEC’s discussions through the code and the website. If the MEC votes to send this TA to you, use the code a phone and website for updates on roadshow schedules, when to expect education materials, and the hours that the Comm Center will be operating.

Please remember we have 1,879 pilots on furlough.

Thank you for listening.

Curious.

If an agreement is signed, can 1113(e) be imposed on the remainder of the workforce?

I agree completely. All that growth at MDA AND an end to the flow-back provision?

Might as well start looking for a job now, 'cause with this deal all that will be left of US is the international flying!

This is just as unacceptable for you guys as the company trying to furlough out of seniority... Question is, what is the alternative? I can't imagine a bankruptcy judge allowing much less!

If an agreement is signed, can 1113(e) be imposed on the remainder of the workforce?

Yes.

Jetsgo is buying 18 ex-American Airlines F100's, I believe it's Platinum Jet buying up the ex-USAirways F100's.
