Hi!

USA Jet Airlines is very military friendly, and is looking for a number of new guys starting now. They plan on hiring 12-20 or so pilots through the summer (they only have about 80 now). If you graduated from a FW school, you're in. If you graduated RW, you only need 100 ME FW to meet their insurance mins. The military success rate for new-hires/upgrades is 100% (civilian is about 93%).

Start flying freight on the Falcon 20, base $33K, 10 days off every 28-very flexible schedules-most holidays off. Move to the DC-9 within about a year, flying freight and/or PAX. 12 days off base $36K. Last year the -9 FOs made about $50k average.

Upgrade to Falcon capt is about 2 years-3rd yr capt pay is about $53K. Upgrade to -9 Capt is about 5-7 years. Max base is now under $100K, but many guys made over that. Last year our #1 guy made about $35K in Sep.

It is a decent company. In the last 4 years, we've had only one active duty guy (helo) who didn't like it. We've had 1 AF guard guy who didn't like it.

Here on flightinfo.com PilotYIP is the recruiter-PM him for info on applying.

If U want detailed info, PM me.

Excuse Cliffy's enthusiasm. We do not need pilots right now, but we anticipate we may need pilots in the future due to turnover and possible expansion. However we are only interviewing to maintain about 12 pilots in our hiring pool. We loose about a pilot a month to other jobs, so we plan on having a class of 4 every 3-4 months. We only hire into the right seat of the DA-20 starting at $35K/yr. All other positions are bid within the seniority system. The soonest we would have another class of 4 would be mid-June or early July and that depends upon a lot of thing. But thanks Cliff for the recruiting plug, and remember we count all rotor wing wing time toward totals, and 50% of ME rotor wing time towards MEL minimums

Tom, no you would probably not be happy here, so you will probably won't apply which will work just fine for everyone. Yes our pilots go on to other jobs, which fit their career goals. They used USA Jet as a stepping stone, someplace to come and get high quality part 121 TJ PIC time. They leave for the right reasons, except for a management screw up last spring. They go to places like SWA, FedEx, Jet Blue, Spirit, Atlas, Kalitta 747's, we wish them well and thank them for their time with us. In the past when pilots went to DAL, UAL and NWA when they were furloughed, we were the first place they called to see if they could come back. Many of them have now elected to make USA Jet a career stop. Yes we have some turnover, it comes with the entry level of the business, but the average pilot has been here almost 6 years, DC-9 Capts over 9 years.

YIP/Cliff - what are the mins?

1200tt, 750 Mel,

Thanks YIP. If you guys are still hiring in a year, I should be at that mark...

Are you able to commute with this job? Any travel benefits?

Reserve line, everything in cargo is a reserve line with a 25-minute call out. 24 hours a day, except when in rest or on days off. DA-20 gets 11 days a month off a month the DC-9 13 days off per month. Passenger ops bid scheduled line six months in advance; they have regular reserve blocks where they are on a 2-hour call out. This year probably 50% of our DC-9 pilots will be in scheduled passenger flying. BTW we only hire into the right seat of the DA-20

I was in the coast guard auxiliary. I think it well prepared me for the job. My floatilla got a big medal last year. I took down 3 drunk boaters on the lake -- all by myself.

Where do I go to apply?
