How far along the list are they with recalls?

Its my understanding that the 190 FO positions were finally completed this past week. The company sent out letters seeking interest about recalls to over 1/3 of the list already. I don't know the junior pilot yet in the 190.

On another note, All available positions on this bid are for Group II aircraft or better with the exception of 3 190 CA positions. With no new 190 FO positions, all 40 recalls will be to group II aircraft...

I wish we'd get some new bodies over here in the west. Totally short on Airbus FO's this month in Phx.

Any ideas when they might be hiring off the street, (I was in the pool back in 2005; have always wanted to work for AWA.)

I know nothing is other than speculation, so no need to point that out either.

Thanks in advance.

I thought I read somewhere that the west will need to recall, I believe the amount was 50, sometime during the spring/summer. Does that sound right??

It is important to recognize that the 3rd that they have called are STILL not enough for them to have reached the 1999 "newhires". All of these pilots are re-furlougheers who were previously furloughed in the early 90s.

The numbers are impressive, but still haven't touched the 1176 pilots hired in 99 - 01.

We had a vacancy bid two months ago which awarded eight positions to recalls -- but nothing has happened yet. No idea when another vacancy bid might come.

haven't seen any news on the east side regarding positions open on the west side. Also, last I saw, the recalls went somewhere around 7-89 class date. Or somewhere around 300 down the list out of 1900.

Wouldn't hold my breath. Stagnation is the word when it comes to Parker. He might buy 2 airplanes but he'll be sure to park 3 before the new ones arrive. Calling back pilots costs money and Parker doesn't want to spend money.

There was an AWA bid out some time ago that had 8 FO positions open up. Those positions will be filled by furloughed pilots from the East. Any new positions that subsequently open in the future must first be offered to East furloughees. I would suspect you will not see any more new hires on the west side. If there were to be any hired off the street before the final integration award, those pilots would be placed on a seperate seniority list and tacked onto the bottom of the final integrated list whenever that is settled. As far as those in the AWA pool... I have no idea what will happen to those pilots...

How will the USAirways 190 rates compare to JetBlue's 190 rates for FOs and Capts? What is the delivery schedule for the 190?

Unfortunately the pool was eliminated.

A friend of mine (who is in the pool) talked to HR a month or so ago, and was told "the pool was alive and well". However it will be a while before any pollies are called ( after all furloughees return or resign ). I had him talk with HR after JR said the pool was eliminated. I wouldn't pass up a good job waiting for a call, but their information is still on file FWIW.

I have heard that the pool is still in place as well. However I am not holding my breath for a call anytime soon. I just like to keep a finger on how things are transpiring.

Doug Parker did mention sometime last summer that U/AWA will be hiring pilots off the street in 2 years. Who knows if that's still true.
