For thoses interested...

The following are the positions awarded to the May 14 class and the seniority number of the junior pilot:

7 PHL A319 3948
3 LGA A319 3938
4 PHL 767 Int. 3862
5 PHL 767 Dom. 3916
4 PHL E190 4437

Keep in mind, this is just the May 14 class, there are more classes scheduled. The most junior pilot with a class date is 4620 (E190).

Also, on a similar note... The company just sent out letters to the entire list for possible recall to Group II or better. These are identical to the 190 letters they sent out recently except they are for Group II or better...

So why did 4620 go to the E190 when he/she could have gone to Group 2 or better? What about those 4 guys who got PHL E190?

Bye Bye--General Lee

Maybe they got the left seat? Or possibly figured they would be senior right off the bat. Who knows.

Does anybody know the new seniority number of the bottom guy at LCC? thanks

6000 plus

This is starting to sound like a Tu Pac song.

Here's a couple of 2 Pac's titles, which one fits?

How do You want it? <------I think its this one!

Keep Ya Head Up!

Wonder Why they Call you a Bitch?

Hit'em Up!

Changes!

Every song goes with how the East guys are feeling!

WRONG

Those are USAIR seniority numbers

Wrong? Please explain... this came from someone in the class. And the letters WERE sent out... communication breakdown, what are you talking about?

The numbers are correct. They are East numbers and the context of the thread is that of RECALL to class.

Bottom of the list on the East is #4693 as of 4/12/07. I believe he just got a LOI for Group II.

Same class of guys indicated that Training Dept was told to be ready to hire off the street by August.

Would the hiring off the street be into the E190 only?

I am a bit unclear as to the difference between the Group I & II differences.

Maybe 190 or group II for new hires...

There are basically 4 groups of aircraft. The E190 is called the E190. The Airbus and 737 are Group II. The 757/767 are Group I. The A330 is a separate group also.

The latest recall of furloughed pilots had recalled pilots into all 4 groups. Yes, that includes the A330...

How is the A330 going to furloughees? Obviously it's a reserve slot but is it available on a system wide basis first or is management arbitrarily awarding it? Sounds like something AWA management would do. Why train two people when you only have to train one.....Hopefully if any current AAA fo wanted that slot a grievance is under way to deal with the situation....

But do you know his/her number on the new list? And more importantly how many bodies are currently working on the East side? thanks

He would be Number Last...:) He was the bottom guy on the APL. All "furloughees" were stapled to the bottom of the list, even though 300+ were active pilots at US Airways Embraer Division (MDA) at the time of the merger. One was even an elected ALPA Officer.

Don't know the new numbers....6000 something.

the last guy on the list is EV and he is #6520. "Save Dave" Odell is number 4769. 6520-4769=1751. Of that 1751, 251ish have been called back. 4769+251=5020 at U/AWA now (or in class). Of the 5020 ruffly 1800 are AWA (AWA guy please chime in here). 5020-1800=3220 U guys online.

Looking down the road:

1751-251=1500ish left to be called back. Of this the bottom 100 are "former CEL" and I would guess almost all of them will take a position. 1500-100=1400 left to make the recall decision. Of the 1400 left I'd guess 400 return, just my "wild a$$" guess (could be more but more than likely it will be less). 400+100+5020=5520 pilots when all recalls are finished and eveyone who wants to come back is online (including thoes needing to be released from j4j holds - which may take untill this time next year - my case) Between now and this time next year there are about 300 retirements between U/AWA so 5520-300=5220 pilots in one year.

Looking at fleet size: U has 220ish not including E190's and I's guess AWA has around 180. 220+180+20(E190 by this time next year) = 440 planes.

5220/440=11.86 pilot/plane which seems alittle high but close (should be around 10/plane). Either my numbers are off somewhere (I'd bet they are close) or the rumors about off the street hires are not needed. Looking at 2 years out close to 2010ish (end of 2009) there will be about 1100 combined retirements. 5220-1100=4120 just intime for the next aviation downturn and furloughs.

When a system bid is published, only active pilots can participate. Whatever positions are left over are covered by recalls. Furloughed pilots cannot participate in the bid. After this last bid closed, there were a couple of A330 slots left unfilled, thus made available to returning furloughees... no grievance needed... If an active pilot wanted the slot, they could have had it.

wow i'm surprised. Seems like if you lived in base 330 reserve fo would be a cake job. The east MC argued vehemently that those were ultra premium jobs yet a couple of went all the way down the list with no takers....strange.

thanks learlove. it's the 5020 number that i was looking for. With all the recalls it's hard for guys out west to know how many pilots are actually on property. Any talk of more recalls?

I think what usually happens is people say " I cant hold it so I wont bid it" I had that happen when I started at the commuters. I had a standing bid in for Captain and got it ahead of more senior guys in my class. They complained, but when I asked if they bid it they said " I didnt think I could hold it" There you go.

Clearly its all the west guys fault that some east guys didn't bid in to those "Higher paying Ultra Premium Jobs"

They can't be bothered with them now but the first time a west guys bids over after the fence comes down there will be hell to pay about a west guy taking an east guys slot etc.

Anybody want to bet on that one ??

I'm a 1999 hire.Till now, I've been silent on this board after the decision that has been put down. From my propective, I expected that the '99 hires would be stapled , but not the 88-90 hires...that is absurd. But, I undrerstand that it's prospective on where you stand. I always try to see both sides of the coin. But, in the end, what I don't like is the heroic mentality on the AWA side on this board. This was put together by a 3rd party. AWA did not have deep pockets and it was close to ch11 at the time. And, now the company is enjoying the synergies of the combined unit... not from one side. My point...drop the attitude!!! It's not as if Fedex(deep pockets) saved AAA. AWA was a tired dog as well. I know it is what it is, and we'll all get thru it, but the chump mentality on this board that is flowing from the west is getting out of control. I hope we can eventually can get it togther and get a workable contract for ALL of our futures. It's a public forum and do as you wish, but I think we need to focus on the real enemy and get our pay scales up to a respectable level.

Well said Sean. I too was a 99 hire. I expected the same thing. Staple, Staple. But to see some guys that have been there along time get screwed, that is just not right. I am glad I have a choice in whether to take recall or not. Right now, the answer is no. Good luck to the guys there. The MDA guys and gals really got screwed no matter how you look at it.

Part of the lack of 330 bids could be multiple. As someone said before, I can't hold it so why bid it. Also it's summer time. Most guys don't want to go through training during the summer, and be tied up. Also not completely sure, but I believe those bottom positions would also fill in as IRO positions. At the same time, they might also be seasonal, where end of summer season, those positions disappear, and you have to find a new home, and hence go through training again. 2 cycles in one year, lots of guys avoid.
