I'm curious as to what US Airways Jumpseat Policy currently is for offline pilots going internationally. More specifically Cancun, Mexico. Thanks!

Dr,

It is hard to get a straight answer. In November 2002, I flew from ATL to London Gatwick on Delta and back from LGW to CLT on US Air. Last month I called US Air reservations and asked if there were any problems jumpseating Internationally, and they indicated that it is still "OK". I jumpseated over on Delta (again ATL-LGW). After several days in the pub, I tried to jumpseat back on US Air and the girls behind the desk said that there are no more Int'l jumpseat priveleges offline. I frantically ran to the Contintal desk and they gave me a ride to EWR. About a week later, I was killing time in CLT and went to the "D" terminal and walked up to the US Air rep at the Frankfurt desk, to ask the int'l jumpseat policy, she said it was up to the captain of that flight. Best of luck

I have ridden as a jumpseater on US Airways round trip between PHL and CDG (I have a friend who has also), so I guess there is some inconsistency. But, it was no problem for me, nor was it for my friend.

I forgot to add, that the girls behind the US Air desk in London said that they closed the offline Int'l jumpseat option in "March 2004 because of the TSA requirements." I know at that time, there was a lot of hubba-hubba about having to give your passport info 48 hours in advance, but I saw several people buying tickets "the day of their travel." I'd just look in the OAG and see if any other carriers can get you close to home/work at the end of your trip, it might save you a lot of money.
