US Air Disappointingly rude

I know two instances where a Usair crew tryed to kick other airline crews out of there van before leaving to the hotel. "We're entitled to our own van."

Umm, sure your not thinking about a Delta crew that did that ? That story goes round and round and at USAirways we always heard it was a Delta crew. Fact of the matter is, a USAir crew wouldn't do that. In 14 years there ( well ,okay I was furloughed for 8 of them ) we always had others in our vans, and quite happily as well, it was a chance to talk to the other guys and see what was going on. We even let Delta crews ride with us

Hey Guys,

Every Airline has their 1%...even here at SWA. Why do guys have to keep bring up where they applied? Who cares?

I feel bad for the US Airway folks. Over the years they have been nothing but cool to me, as far as jumpseating & riding in the van etc..

fellas, the folks at Airways are having it tough enough as it is right now.

Outright advertising of a flaw in the actions in one of 8000 some-odd pilots, with obvious intent at trying to make a childish, negative generalization about an entire company ain't helping anything. If you don't have anything nice to say, just bite your tongue, like that Airways guy should have. Leave this he-said, she-said, finger pointing to 13 year old girls and old people. Course, that would take about half the conversation on this message board away. I never new grown fellas could Bithc so much. Sure what he did wasn't the coolest thing to do, but unless this behavior becomes a mainstay in Airways pilots, try not to kick them while they're down. Unfortunately every pilot out there doesn't have the good fortune to be working for SWA right now. Wish we all could. Take care.

Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured English soldiers. Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned English longbow and therefore they would be incapable of fighting in the future.

This famous weapon was made of the native English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as "plucking the yew" (or "pluck yew").

Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset and began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French, saying, "See, we can still pluck yew!

"PLUCK YEW!"

Since 'pluck yew' is rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodental fricative 'F', and thus the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger-salute!

It is also because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as "giving the bird."

And yew thought yew knew everything

I am still amazed how pilot's think their airlines are sooo invinsible. Remember this. If your airline is doing good right now; it does not mean it will be around in 10 years. Be proud of your profits and Kool-aid dispensing managers, but remember, times will always get tough and airlines will "threaten" to go out of business. (of course I hope not)

I remember how proud and boisterous the United guys where in the mid ninties. It kind of reminds me of the pride and "glow" the SWA PILOT'S have now. Count your blessings and realize not everybody has a chance to work for a particular airline. Also realize and empathisze with fledgling brothers at other airlines. It is no their choice to be in that situation, it just happened.

Airlines come and go NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU THINK YOUR AIRLINE IS INVINSIBLE. The only thing we have is our trade and the ability as pilot's not to "degrade it" and cut on each other.

That's funny I didn't see anything in Pegasus' post about gloating. I think he was just surprised that some idiot would be flipping him the bird because his airline is in the toilet



Get a grip!

Most of us realize that nothing last forever and to appreciate it when things are good. His original post just proves that some people can be real jerks when THEY continue to make bad choices. The US Air thing is nothing new, they have been losing money for years.

i was not replying to pegasus's post. In fact, i think the usair guy waz a prik for flicking him off.

I just have noticed a little arrogance in pilots in the past and current, that their airlines are untouchable and their airline's growth is unstoppable. I just sit there and pray that they are right and dont have all their eggs in one basket.

Today's top airline could be tomorrow's sinking ship. By the way your assumption of USAIR is wrong. They were Wall Street's Darling in the mid 80's. (I never worked for them)
