No guppykiller I have not applied. I have two big flaws in the eyes of the folks that do the hiring at UPS. 1 no college degree, 2 no internal recomendations. I am happy where I am at, but thats not to say if 1 and 2 were different I would'nt apply. There is not a lot of security in this career or any other for that matter so if I were a young man again I would get a dgree in something usesful outside of aviation and work very hard towards UPS and FedEx and if wanted to haul pax then Southwest. That would be my strategy for today in a few years things may change and it may another carrier. I am sure the guys hired by the legacy carriers in the late 90's pre 9/11 had similar ideas about job security there so it is very fluid, hence the college degree. That would be my recomendation to a young man looking at flying for a living.

Hey, welcome to the club! No college here either. Didn't know a single soul that worked at UPS before I applied there.

That is very interesting! I was talking to a few crew members here in ANC and no on knew of anyone getting hired without a degree since the late 80's. I am glad to hear someone has gotten through to the line without a degree. I have had this college discussion many times and while I see the merits of a degree I still don't see where it makes a better pilot. I have told a few that felt a college degree is the very least to have for the job that when I become the Chief Pilot no one will get hired without an A&P. I see more merit to having an A&P as a pilot than a BS or BA. Oh well I guess thats is being arumentative. FreightNazi congrats on the job, if we cross paths at Humpy's or F Street the first one is on me.............

Freightnazi, guppykiller, 410dude, ABXpert, ABXbooger, Gaut, missing link, Ihaveapension, RJDC, UPSer, cynical, browntail, A380pilot and way toooo many others to list are still the same person, Rhoid. It was so nice without you, now be a good boy and go away.

That's not very nice what you said to a pilot that has already made it to where you DREAM of being. Remember one thing. IF you ever make it to UPS airlines, I'll ALWAYS be senior to you! OBTW, your list is inaccurate. Besides what do you care. You need to get a life and not worry about what others are doing. Remember to keep your key on your pinky!
