Anyone remember what the pre req's were back when UPS was last hiring, IE Total time, PIC, degree, etc?
EMB,
I was hired during the last wave of hiring in 2001. Here is what I had when I got hired:

4 year degree
3200TT
500PIC Turbine
1300 Jet
800 TP
2100ME
FEX Written and all other required documents.
LOR's

I don't know what the current hiring minimums (and realistic ones) are going to be. I suspect it will be more competitive now than it was a few years back. When I got hired, some people were still leaving UPS to go to the PAX side of the industry.

Just wondering if Upsico still flies the 8's overseas? Where too if they still do?

Doesn't UPS have bases in Europe and Asia as well? Just curious.
DC-8's are not currently assigned any overseas flying.

Crew domiciles are SDF, ONT, and MIA.

Thanks Clyde

I get the impression from talking to the couple of guys I do know at UPS that the 100 pilots referenced in the article that started this whole thread is only the beginning of a fairly large hiring spree, would you agree?

Does anyone have the number for HR at UPS to check the status of your pool number. I have been in the pool for a while.

Thanks

I just called the UPS pilot hiring hotline and it appears to be updated. For minimum qualifications it says that they'll be posted at upsjobs.com, I went to the website and it looks as though that has not been updated yet. Best of luck to all!

I certainly hope so. In the 4 years I've been here, it seems like change is the only thing that stays constant. I'm optiminstic though, and I personally think (and this is the world according to Clyde) that there will be more to follow. If not in addition to 100 in 2005, I think we may see additional hiring in 2006. However, we have to factor in growth, retirements, aircraft deliveries, and the ever-changing economy. But, like I said, I'm optimistic.

Hey UPS guys,

Anybody knows a Vic Marchioni, I think he is on the 757 in MIA. I trained with him in another life, on the MD-11.

Here's a question I know will come up - if you took your FE writtens years ago but have been continuously employed by a Part 121 carrier, are they still good? I think that was the rule at one time.

They are good for two years unless employed by 121 carrier Aren't they? Then it's up to the employer as to whether or not they want to see it within two years. As a rule, having it up to date shows motivation and is a discriminator.

I attempted to retake the FE writtens several years ago and was told by the FAA not to do it; they were still good. Just wondering if this is still true.

As far as the FE written goes...

The decision to extend the expiration is at the discretion of the examiner for the practical test. The only mention of an extension to the FE written is in the PTS Standards, not the FARs.

Basically, it is a loophole. Most companies (FedEx, DHL, UPS) request that you have a Current FE Written by the time you go to class. I think it is easier than relying on the PTS standards and the decision of the examiner giving the checkride.

Check with HR if you get called for an interview.
