Anything on the east side of the city is typically pretty good. Oldham/Shelby counties to the E and NE of Louisville/Jefferson Country are very popular, as the eastern/northeastern burbs tend to be more affluent. Prospect, Jeffersontown and Middletown are towns east, along with Simpsonville. Hard to go wrong with the Shelbyville Road corridor. Relatively easy commute to SDF along I-64 to the Gene Snyder (I-265) or Watterson Expressway (I-264). If you are up in the Oldham county (LaGrange/Goshen) area, there's a good chance you'll have to take I-71 into the city, which will get you familiar very quickly with the mess of roads that is "spaghetti junction".
Male High School is very close to SDF, but people commute in to it from all over because of its excellent honors program. I also hear Eastern High School is a good public school. Popular private schools include Trinity and St. Xavier, along with Assumption (all girls).
A bunch of UPSers live in Southern Indiana, especially around Floyds Knobs. You'll have to deal with the congestion on the Kennedy Bridge (I-65), but there are other ways to go.
Hope this helps...sorry it wasn't in PM form, but maybe others can use it too!
