UPS Pool

Has anyone lately (last 6 months) been getting a letter placing them in the hiring pool? If so, have they gotten out of the pool?

Or is everyone getting a phone call placing them directly into a class?

Swimming

I have been swimming in the pool since mid June. I jump every time the phone rings.

I have heard of people in the pool for a few minutes and others who have been in for a few years.

I have no idea what the norm is or how the current sim situation is impacting the class size for the rest of 2007.

Oct 1st classdate

Just got the call for Oct 1st. Was told everything is to ANC.
For those curious - interviewed Jul 8th, called 2 weeks later for drug and background checks, called today with classdate.

In my recent class no one swam. Almost everyone in my class had heavy time, and everyone had international experience.
From what I understand if you don't have either of those things you will swim if hired.

Yes, 3 recs, but not until I got notified of the interview. I'm sure the international requirement is what got me the interview.

I have the heavy time. I think I was the odd ball without knowing anyone working at UPS.

Does UPS just require a First Class Medical like Fed Ex or do they also conduct their own physical as part of the application process?

Dropped the SDF medical requirement after about 01Nov06. Now, they'll have you go to your local doc and take a 'whiz quiz.' That's it...

I think they need to empty the pool first. Then interview more.
And yes I was in the pool for a long, long time. Still hate the thing and I always will. Had an HR person ask me what I did not like about UPS. I told that person the POOL!! I was told to get over it. Sorry, but I can't because I know what the people in the pool are going through.

Feel like I am in limbo, and I am getting twichy from jumping everytime the phone rings.

I know I am lucky to be in the pool, but, it just sucks that experienced professionals are treated this way.

And if another friend, coworker, neighbor, etc asks "have you heard from UPS yet?" I am going to go postal (or maybe parcel)!
