Anyone else out there in the current hiring pool? Just trying to get an idea of how many of us there are.

Thanks,
Otis

Otis,

Not sure exactly how they're working it, but I did my physical the first part of January and there were 3 other folks there the same day, so that would be 4 people that I personally know of waiting on a call. Is this the same as the pool you're talking about? Hope this helps.

Otis,

I am currently in the new pool as well. I am the one that PM'd you before about the new pool. I have not heard anything else....still hoping and waiting!! I will keep you informed if I hear anything different!!

Latest rumor I heard is that there will only be one more class of S/Os and the rest will be hired directly into the right seat.

I didn't take a physical but got a letter a couple of weeks after the interview saying I was in the pool. Just wondering if there was anyone else in the same boat.

Thanks,
Otis

If you start as an FE, what is the minimum time on the panel before you can bid off? Obviously it depends upon hiring and new aircraft additions. Just curious how long one might expect at a minimum.

How senior are 757/767 FO positions vs. 727 or DC-8 FO positions? Also, what are the bases besides Louisville - I thought Miami could be a base? Lastly, when are the first A380 freighters expected to arrive?

It appears that unless you get a spot in the next class, future new hires will be starting in the right seat. Both the 727 and DC-8 are senior compared to the 757/767, that includes both the international and domestic domiciles as well as MIA and ONT. The other domiciles are MIA and ONT. There is a possibility of new hires going directly to either of those domiciles. They are both 757/767 only. The A-380 is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2009 with 3 aircraft due for delivery that year.

Simple question: why are the DC-8 and 727 more senior than the 757/767?

Easy answer,

At UPS, we work on the same pay scale, regardless for equipment. 727 pays the same as the 747, its all based on years of service. (Im one of the few that wishes it were different) As of now, the 727 and DC8 have better schedules and that is why more senior people bid them.

Otis, I took my physical last week and got sent a copy of the results yesterday. I have gotten all the letters from previous employers about my flying records being sent. Still waiting for the formal offer.

I am still waiting for word of yes or no. Did my interview in the middle of Dec. When I got back from 15 day tour of Europe and the Middle East my CP told me that he sent back my records to UPS. I don't know what to think anymore. I was thinking of jumping down to DFW for the Air inc this weekend to go to the UPS both, see if they remember me. But I got put on a trip to Roma that leaves Sunday morning.

Good Luck all.

I did the interview and sim last week. I was asked to come back the next day for the medical. As of last week they had not scheduled any classes for either February or March but they thought they would.

The results of last weeks system bid showed large disparities in the amount of captains to f/o's on the 727 and 757/767 domestic. This should result in newhires going to the right seat of at least those two fleets and possibly others as well.

I put my app in 2 days after they went digital, and have not heard a word. Went back to the web site today to update, but didnt see any openings for pilots. Has UPS stopped hiring/taking apps? Thanks.
BTW, what are competitive mins to get and interview?
