Just apply online. It shouldn't take that long. From my first ever initial contact with UPS to starting class was less than two months.

How'd you pull that off?

Anybody have a clue what it takes to get an interview at UPS? Myself and a couple of other acquaintances have the time, internal recs, and have been going at this a while now - our sponsors (line pilots) perceive the hiring machine as a black box - no real clue what the mechanism is for getting an interview call.

Anyone?

I believe the process starts with a trip to Haiti and a lengthy consultation with a Voodoo Priestess.

No great secret for me. Just applied online and they called a week or so later to schedule the interview and was given the next class date on the spot.

Freight Nazi,

Thanks for the info...UPS's old system just allowed you to attach your resume' when you applied for a flight officer position----no online app at all---with your e-mail address as your log on...if you wanted to update your info every three to six months...you would log on with your e-mail address, but, the system would not let you update.....it would just indicate in red that it could not complete the process because you already applied for the position

So, it didn't allow you to make any changes or updates....

With your post, I went back to the website ( first time in 6 mos.) and now they have a complete online application process, similar to AIRINC, that allows you to apply, update, and edit.

Just finished the new application process....much thanks to you.

I tried everything but giving my left nut to try to get an interview at UPS. 4 LORs (line pilots), 6500 hours, 2000 pic turbine, check airman, met them at a Arinc job fair, flew to SDF during a sort at 0300 and talked to a chief pilot. Couldn't catch a break.
Also believe everything happens for a reason. Happily flying Herb's red bellied 73s and would never consider leaving for another flying job.
Please do not take this as a negative shot at UPS at all. I have maximum respect for all the UPS guys and gals (4 of them tried their best to help me out).
Still a part of me is curious why I never even had the opportunity to step up to the plate...

Interesting.

I know folks who wanted to be at FedEx or UPS and ended up at SWA when they never called. Also know folks turned down by SWA at FedEx and UPS. The people in question don't seem too different from one another. Just separated by a few months.

Put the apps out there and see what happens.

Hi Bobby
I guess it's for the same reasons that many qualified people are still trying to figure out why Herb hasn't gotten around to giving us that opportunity to fly his red bellied 73's.....especially when we have a good amount of time in them.

There's no real rhyme or reason...other than right place..right time..with the stars in alignment......keep fly'in those red bellied 73's..

Corp Hawk:

You are 100% correct. Like I said everything happens for a reason. If one of your goals is to fly Herb's 73's please keep trying. It is everything everyone says it is.
Good luck.
