Could someone from UPS be so kind as to answer some questions for me:
  • What type of schedules does a senior FE on DC8 or 727 get.
  • How long does it take to become senior on said aircraft.
  • What is maximum days one is gone at a time on these aircraft (for lineholders)
  • How long does it take to become FO.
  • Does anyone fly days only?
  • Is there a list of schedules to bid on each month or do you use preferential bidding system.
I appreciate any answers and comments. I am currently at ExpressJet DBA Continental Express with about 2000 jet PIC.

Thank you.

We're repeatedly hearing that ALL FE positions at UPS will be filled by "over 60" crew members sometime in the first half of '05 ... looking at the numbers I'd say it's very likely.

So ... new hires are looking at about 6 mos on the panel and later new hires will go directly to the right seat (probably 757/767 or the A-300) and most likely SDF domicile. ONT and MIA both go junior, so if that is an interest the wait should not be too long.

Max is 6-7 days per trip usually (intl about 12 days max, rest of period off) and yes, there are day flying lines (go more senior, usually).

UPS uses thirteen 28-day periods (just to be different). We bid for 2 periods at a time (56 day schedule) and a single period in Nov. No preferential bidding.

Uh, rephrased....

Maybe you should rephrase it to

- What type of schedule are new-hires in training on?
- How long is training?
- What is the longest sim session?
- How long till one is off probation?
- Can I get hired by UPS ?
- Any interview tips ?

Settle down Francis, don't put the cart before the horse

Anyone from NASA answer a few questions?

1. What is a typical Shuttle Schedule
2. Do I have to live in Houston or can I live in Cape Canveral?
3. Is NASA looking for RJ Test pilots or do you still have to be a Navy Pax-river grad? My friend has 2000 PIC in the RJ and wants to know....
4. Any chance a Furloughed Major airline guy can apply? Or do they frown upon that?
5. How senior is the Mars mission going?
6. How are the crew meals?

Thanks in advance! You guys are out of this world!

Anyone from Air Force UPT help me out?

- How can I get F-117's out of pilot training?
- I understand "flighter slots" are few and far between. Can I elect "transport track" and go to Air Force One?
- How long until I can become Aircraft Commander in the above airplanes?
- At the Air Force Academy, do I have to do pushups? What does this have to do with the Stealth Fighter or Air Force One?
- Same goes for polishing my low quarters. I will be wearing a flight suit once I graduate top of my class from the Academy, right?

I have watched Top Gun and memorized all the words, and my dad lets me fly his 172. BE ADVISED I anticipate easily passing the initial AF screening flight, no sweat.

Man, if you want some slack around this watering hole, you better bring it yourself!!

Maybe the guy is trying to do a little research before he sends his stuff in for an interview. How is that a bad thing?

If he got the job and then asked the question, you would be busting his balls for not doing his research.

Ease up

I see that UPS does not flightcrews as job openings. Is that the hint that they have hired the 100 they are looking for??
I hope not. My interview is scheduled for this week.

I've heard that UPS has somewhere around 80,000 resumes on file, so if that is true, they probably don't feel like they need to solicit for more.

On a side note, what are your chances with only one pilot rec?
Slim? or Forget about it?

I am talking about me :) What are my chances with only one rec? I guess I should list myself under Forget it!?!?!?!

Back in '01 while in my first year I gave a guy his only rec and he was hired. That was then but now who knows what the winning formula is. I would guess with all the highly qualified talent available the bar has been raised a bit.
