Has anyone been called for the December or January classes? I Also wanted to ask if rumor mill expects that the hiring will continue beyond the initial 100 before the contract is ratified.

Cheers!

100 is published....no word on if more will be hired, but all I know is that between class 1 in november and class 2 in december, that is 30ish already....
I think the number is safe. Obviously they wouldnt want to announce 300 and hire 150....wouldnt bode well during talks....

Would that be like hiring pilots, placing them in a pool, telling them them training is next month, next month, next month....three years later asking them to re-interview and bouncing them on the spot? - I guess that WOULD bode well during talks?

kidflo has got it right. Very funny too!

I don't think UPS management is considering it for contract talks. But they probably want to give out a solid, conservative number so employees stop pestering them with hiring questions. They throw out a number that is good for the near future and tell everyone when to expect the next update.

As far as reinterviewing out of the pool, I'm not surprised. It is a precarious place to be. It's a tough call to change life plans with the words "you are continuing the interview process" that put you in "the pool". Past pool policies are not set in stone and you are still just a candidate for the job. Background checks will be reaccomplished and order out of pools vary.

Side note....Use caution with the 2 week notice rule when changing jobs in this industry. You ain't hired until you are sitting in class, and even then it may not be for long. When ATA quit hiring they gave the incoming class 10 days notice of class "postponement". (This was before the bankruptcy filing and upcoming furlough).
