UPS to purchase Polar Air Cargo

Purchase, NY.--(BUSINESS WIRE)—May 16, 2005--Moving to expand the capacity of its air network to accommodate strong international growth, UPS (NYSE: UPS - News) today announced a plan to purchase Polar Air cargo in a deal that’s worth a $hit load of money.

"The Deal will allow UPS to effectively meet the fast-growing demands of their customers across a variety of global trade lanes and also replace 45 UPS aircraft thereby furloughing all the new hires. This is an exciting opportunity for the Polar pilots to upgrade and put high paid UPS pilots on the street

Also, the new CEO will be named Freightnazi's. He’s been day dreaming of this position ever since we hired the piece of $hit, said UPS current" President and Chief Executive Officer.

Towards the end of the month our new CEO “Freightnazi's”, will update this board and the public with some more oh his bullsit!!!!

Polar is not for sale. CEO Jeff Erickson came out this morning in a press conference with the share holders to announce the future plans of the company. Expansion plans are on the horizon including a fleet renewal program. Boeing 747-Advance and 777-200LRF's are under study. In Mr. Ericksons words he said "Big is Beautiful" Classics will be phased out and initially replaced by 747-400SF's.

But don't take my word for it you can listen to the press conference on our website. Mind you that all I've said here is FACT not RUMOR.

okay--so i have been hearing and reading about ups and atlas/polar for sometime. i decided to make a call and see whats up. i called someone who knows someone who actually golfs with this guy at his club that is friends with this gal that happens to work for someone who sees a guy who actually may know. so it was told to me that it is rumor. unfort. this other person called back and said they can't comment on the fact that it may or may not be a rumor indeed. so there it is--i hope my research has offered some clear answers.

If AA decided not to buy, everyone at TWA would have been out of work.

So, its work and go to the bottom of the list or go out of business.

As a result the TWA pilots got saved and therefore got a better deal than going bust and out of work.

There you have it!!!

Polar is not in the same TWA situation.

That is what UPS does. They will buy out all the competition and put pilots out on street. They just purchased Menlo and probably by the first quarter of 06, they will put most of the contract pilots there on unemployment, not to mention over 1500 Menlo employees. What I don't understand is why they are talking about a strike. They have to be about the highest paid in the industry.

I don't want this thread hijacked, so I will leave it at this:

I was there for the AA Buyout, and you aren't even CLOSE to knowing what you are talking about. The bankruptcy was a pre-packaged deal that came about only as a result of the buyout. TWA wasn't going anywhere. There were people standing in line waiting to loan TWA more money if they needed it to survive. Just look at how long UAL has floundered around in Chap 11. But the point is, TWA probably wouldn't have even had to file.


Many people believe that if AA had not bought TWA, they would be one of the strongest Low Cost Carriers in the market with one of the newest fleets today....with an international and domestic route structure.
