Anyone heard any new rumors or facts about upcoming classes?

My guess is that the Aug 29th A-300 class is full. Haven't heard anything new lately. Any new poolies? Anyone called lately?

How about that, UPS pilots won't scab another airline. Wonder what the NWA pilots will do?

UPS Pilots Will Not Haul Northwest Airlines Struck Goods
Tuesday August 16, 12:39 pm ET

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Independent Pilots Association,
UPS pilots union, has told UPS that they will refuse to fly Northwest
Airlines struck goods. The IPA informed UPS of its position in anticipation
of a possible strike by the mechanics at NWA, which could occur as early as
this Friday.

"The Independent Pilots Association is strongly committed to the principle
of solidarity with our fellow transportation industry workers. As such, we
will refuse to fly any struck goods should a strike or lock-out occur at
Northwest Airlines involving their airline mechanics," said IPA President
Capt. Tom Nicholson.

He went on to say, "NWA has an extensive cargo operation and is now actively
in the market attempting to line-up aircraft and carriers to provide airlift
to dodge the effects of a strike. We have told UPS that we will refuse to
haul any struck goods placed on our airplanes. UPS pilots have the
contractual right to refuse to move airplanes containing struck goods. We
will simply set the parking brakes on any UPS plane containing NWA struck
goods."

Due to the simmering labor dispute at NWA, IPA Crewmembers have refused to
be transported on NWA since August 5. As a result, UPS has rescheduled its
pilots to other commercial carriers.

"This simple act of refusing to deadhead on NWA has had a significant impact
on the carrier given that more than 40% of the flights in the current bid
package were deadheads on Northwest," said Capt. Nicholson.

I agree. Fred and the boys are probably packing the planes right now with as much of that stuff as they can. Then they'll tell us all about it. I heard that's why the j/s were suspended, so that they could get more of NWA's freight on the plane. (well, actually, I heard it in my head while I was typing it)

Some good news. Well, for me, at least.

I'm one of nine in the August 29th class, all going (as of a few days ago,fingers crossed) to the A300. I don't know if the class is full.

Applied in 2001, two recommendation letters. Interviewed late June.

Luck to be dry.

The 747-400s rumor was supposed to be press released Tuesday....maybe it will come out tomorrow. At least that's the rumor I heard

I might have been misinformed but didn’t the NWA pilots decided NOT to support their own mechanics in this conflict? Is that true? If so, the UPS pilot’s actions are even more admirable!

UPS Orders Eight Boeing 747-400 Freighters

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 17, 2005--As part of its on-going
effort to accommodate strong international volume growth, UPS (NYSE:UPS -
News) today announced a firm order for eight new Boeing 747-400 freighters
from Boeing C

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Deliveries of the 747-400's will begin in June 2007 and run through 2008.
UPS has selected General Electric to provide engines for the new aircraft.

"These Boeing 747-400 freighters will allow UPS to smoothly increase
capacity on its most important international 'trunk' routes connecting Asia,
Europe and North America," said Bob Lekites, UPS vice president of airline
and international operations.

UPS today relies on the Boeing MD-11 freighter as its primary international
workhorse. UPS has 20 of those planes and another eight on order. The new
747-400 aircraft, which can handle a larger payload than the MD-11, will be
used to "upsize" MD-11 routes as international volume grows.

In its most recent second quarter, UPS's export volume grew an impressive
18.2%, led by Asia export volume gains of 39.5%. China again drove Asia with
export volume rising 99%.

The Boeing 747-400 freighter has the capacity to carry a structural payload
of 250,000 pounds with a range of 4,400 nautical miles.
