But I'm sure you will return eventually now ,won't you?

PHXFLYR

I certainly do not plan on it. Flying was just a nice paying job with a significant number of drawbacks (like being junior). If it paid enough, then I was willing to be junior for awhile. That was nine years ago. I cost more now.

The free flying and the neat magazine from ALPA will be fun while it lasts.:bomb:

Me thinks you are adding your .02 because it's what you think is best for you.

No,"me thinks" I saw a bunch of furloughed Easties struggling with a recall decision they had to make . I was just trying to point out that what you would really be coming back to was more America West in terms of pay and benefits than the old USAir from where you were furloughed from. Didn't want to see you make a descion that you might regret. Nothing more nothing less. For you to read more into it than that is just flatout wrong and to be quite honest with you, not appreciated at all.

Hey, you are about to be on the USAir seniority list. Don't be thinking you can bring your good will with you.

Just FYI, this was posted by the fulough admin. on the alpa webboard..

The company is in the process of sending out letters for a recall to the 190 FO positions. They will recall 26 pilots for the 190 from now through December. They will additionally recall an additional 164 pilots to Group 2 or better aircraft later in the year. The letters going out now are ONLY for the 190 positions. The additional slots will be filled after the 190 positions are filled.
Pilots still have the ability to bypass the 190 FO position as long as they like. If you accept a 190 position and you have not begun Indoc class, you can subsequently get a better aircraft if your seniority allows. However once you begin training you are locked into the 190 for 12 months from when you begin Indoc.
If you pass on the 190, the additional 164 positions will be filled in seniority starting from the top of the list again so you will have another opportunity for recall. If you decide to pass on the 190 and you don't get one of the 164 positions and there are junior people to you who have accepted a position on the 190, you cannot later change your mind and bump them out of a position.
Some letters were sent out Friday and the remainder will go out this week.

Got the letter today. Hired on 11-08-1999. Will pass the 190 f/o slot. However, I will come back on Group 2 or better. The 190 position is just to
much of a pay hit.

I also received the April 4th letter today. It says they are recalling 26 to the E190 between April and December. It says subsequent letters should be coming to staff 164 additional Group I and II F/O positions.

Obviously, with any E190 recalls, I will bypass.

the one thing about the 190 for J4J guys is that they will be held for 8 months at Republic upon recall. That 8 month starts your time ticking at mainline - so if you take the 190 and get held for 8 months you will only have to endour first year 190 pay for 4 months.

Yea!!! Thats 3 whole Bucks!!!!

I was a 8/99 hire and have not got any letter yet but I do get the J4J stuff. I wonder why I didn't get a recall letter?

Anyone got the number of the person to call to check my status?

Why would anyone who has been furloughed for 8 years want to come back to fly the 190 as an F/O unless you were previously homeless?

Not according to the company. Your 12 month freeze starts at the time you BEGIN training. Not at time of your freeze at a J4J carrier. ALPA opposes the view, so it's in a limbo grey area for now. Though on the hold for the 190 at a J4J carrier, you could slide up into a Grp II if your lucky.

vetrider,

No worries. I was a little hesitant to put that in there because it can be easily misconstrued, but I thought it to be relevant background info as to why it seems so hard for some of us to decide. I certainly did not mean to offend anyone.

Will someone please PM me the AAA HR phone number. Sitll no letter as of today. I want to find out if I am still on the recall list.

Thanks

Don't trust MG! He's the one who talked you into going to work for Great Plains! <hmmm or did you talk HIM into it... <grin>

Perhaps this is more proof of how screwed up I am, but:

I loved Great Plains! Of course, having grown up in TUL with family still there and as a DoJet Captain home almost every night, I shoulda! Not really sure if I had anything to do with getting him involved, but IIRC I first heard of them thru Mom while beating my head against the wall out west, so I can't really credit him for that one.
