I had a Beech Capt I was flying with once deny an AA jumpseater, there were two of them. He was sick of being denied on AA due to their "rules".
The AA pilot was flabbergasted and the conversation went....
B1900Cpt "How many jumpseats do you have on your 737?"
AA Pilot "One."
B1900Cpt "Thats how many I have."
Thankfully I have never been denied and all are welcome on my bus.

I don't have a dog in this fight (I'm not flying 121 yet), but I feel your pain.
Here's a suggestion: print up a bunch of cards and hand them out to any pilots you give jumpseats to who are from majors that don't provide unlimited jumpseats, or at least don't provide as many jumpseats as you do.
The card could say something like:
Dear Fellow Pilot:
I am happy to provide you a jumpseat on my flight. My flight crew and I will do everything possible to provide you with courteous, professional service to get you to your job on time. We recognize the importance of this. I and many other crewmembers at my airline rely on the courtesy of pilots such as yourself to get to our jobs as well.
However, as you know, your airline severely restricts the number of jumpseaters allowed regardless of how many open seats are available in the cabin. I would like to ask you to submit a request to your jumpseat committee that the number of jumpseats you can offer be expanded to match those offered by airlines such as ours.
Thank you for your support.

Keep in mind, the jumpseat committee probably has no control of the policy. They can ask management, but as with all things in pilot vs management, it would have to be negoiated which means the pilot group would have to give up something. Don't blame the crews, I don't think there is any pilot group that wants to restrict the jumseat, the policy comes from management.

Why No Unlimited j/s on the majors?
The reason there is no unlimited on the majors is becuase there is no free travel for the employees when jumpseating became common. (in the 80's). Even if gate agents, rampers and cleaners have to pay $5 to ride on thier own airline it is still five bucks. Why should they allow off line pilots to fill up the cabin under the title of jumpseat for free?
In order for unlimited off line jumpseating to occur, the major airline pilots have to first negotiate free travel for every employee (FA's rampers, cleaners, gate agents, etc...) then they have to negotiate unlimited for the off line pilots. A two step process that will take alot of negotiating captial. The major airline pilots ask themselves, what do I give up to allow off line pilots to j/s... Pay? Work rules...?
In this current airline environment I don't think unlimited in the majors is coming any time soon.
In a black and white world should a major pilot accept unlimted j/s if his airline cannot offer it back? The world is grey. However, the majors will say, we offer international jumpseat. Two considerations... who cares about international. A destination is a destination. If my airline does EAS, and Capt. B. 747 needs to ride my BE-1900 to get home, then that destination is the most important to him. Who cares about Heathrow, Rome and Paris. Also, American and CAL won't let you use international unless your airline reciprocates... (although the Capts are cool and let ya on sometimes...)
I have always thought as individuals we should take the high road and let the major airline pilots ride anyway...but I will tell them to take off thier scope badge when they make the j/s requests. They can pick it up on the way out.....
