With a special MEC Update for Thursday, January 6, 2005, this is MEC Communications Chairman Steve Derebey.

The pilots of United airlines have ratified the tentative agreement between the Air Line Pilots Association and United Airlines. The agreement amends the pilots’ current collective bargaining agreement with the Company, effective January 1, 2005, and will provide $180 million in annual labor savings to the Company. 88.5 percent of the eligible United pilot group cast votes on the new labor agreement, which was approved by a vote of 76.8 percent to 23.1 percent. The new agreement remains subject to approval by the bankruptcy court which is hearing the matter today.

What absoultely blows my mind is we will continue to do this. I thought the goal was to be cost competitive with LCCs, not underbid them. Pathetic.

AAflyer

PS. Don't worry, I am not pointint fingers at only UAL, our limp dik group of pilots at AA would give more in a second.

Another Airline just fighting for survival.

After US Air is gone UAL will be the next one everyone will have their eyes on.

I hate to say it guys, history has shown that airlines this weak don't survive. Way too competitve of an industry.

Actually, 88.3% said yes.. not voting is a yes vote....

Looks like most guys are concerned for thier paycheck, whatever that maybe... which is...understandable....

May we see the BK judge throw out the agreement anyway?
