To put it simply, UAL et. al. are using these techniques to "Wal-Martize" this industry. Wal-Mart bullys their suppliers to drop costs until they get the lowest possible prices (using Chinese factories, etc.) and these mainline carriers have taken note.bustinmins said:I guess this is just more signs of fun things to come. Make no mistakes, this will be happening more and more in the coming months. If this works for UAL you can expect it everywhere there is an opportunity.
"What was the name of that truck driving school....?"
I am sure there is no offense taken... Sheesh, it's not like there are thousands of families out there with their futures tied to UAL's existence... Pretty heartless if you ask me.N8Dogg said:No offense to the UAL pilots but I hope they go out of business. Even with BK protection they are still trying to screw the little guys. They just seem to be a cancer to this industry.
It looks like the future of UAL is tied to this potential FA strike (in January?). With one month to bid and a month to wait for the UAL decision we could all be looking at an unhappy New Year. I don't believe UAL can survive a FA stike. The pilot's have more to lose but I think we can count on them NOT to cross a line even if it means going under.Heavy Set said:I am sure there is no offense taken... He does have the Caribbean scenery package, you know.CRJ Driver said:Heavy Set, GO AWAY, all you do is make comments on the message board you know nothing about. And I'm sure your not even a pilot, the only thing you fly is MS flight Simulator.
It's not 50 seat flying up for bid. It's 70 jets up for bid. So your CEO can still bid on all of Air Wisconsin's flying with your 170's. Sorry... you're not making me feel any better.FlyingDawg said:Chautauqua CEO said in his last weekly update that CHQ/Republic is not interested in acquiring any more 50 seat aircraft. The future at CHQ/Republic is E170 and E190s. We will not be bidding on the Air Wiskey 50 seat flying.
The only thing I (and the majority of people) hate about Skywest is that you sold your fukcing soul agreeing to fly 99 seats for 50 seat rates. Doing a great job pulling up the industry.Bako Cap said:The only thing I hate about Skywest is that we are in bed with United
I was reading an article in the Wall Street Journal last week that someChinese suppliers are unhappy with their WalMart contracts because they can't make a profit. A firm that makes microwave ovens thought they could do a deal as a "loss leader" and then get more valuable contracts. Didn't happen.XJTAv8r said:To put it simply, UAL et. al. are using these techniques to "Wal-Martize" this industry. Wrong. They are just doing what they should be. Asking for the lowest price.bige2000 said:The only people at ual not suffering is the overly inflated upper management The real problem is the Harvard educated suit stuffed with poop, these blowhards and everyone that thinks like them are the reason why we are getting focked.
