should new fo's look for another job or wait this out?
Wait it out...

Remember, nothing in aviation is ever final until you see it on the ramp and the flight release has your name on it, and even then doubt it until you're airborne.

That's not to say you shouldn't "cover your bets". The one thing I learned from Kit Darby is that the best time to go looking for a job is when you already have a job that pays the bills. Upgrading jobs is easy, looking for work when you're out of work is a pain in the a*s... After two furloughs (one permanent) that wisdom has finally hit home.

Good luck to all, just when I think we've hit bottom a new low comes across the AP Newswire. Looks like we all picked the wrong time to stop sniffing glue...

I don't know much, but knowing how long AWAC has been with United, I'd say this RFP is the sight of more than one nail being put in the coffin of UAL.

Could this possibly be why Trans States was cooking up the crazy idea of starting an alter-ego, ala Republic?

The whipsaw has got to stop. Pilots of AWAC are in a tough spot right now. Best of luck to you, ladies and gents...

Wait it out.....many ways this can end up going down. United sees a chance to make a few extra pennies and they're going for it.........the timing makes absolutely no sense, somethings up..........you think they would have waited the play this card........won't speculate but just think about it. Either way.....it ain't good. But as far as job hunting......I think I'd wait, unless the option was something other than a regional F/O.......not that this is a good place to be on the bottom, but just that I think the entire regional industry is going to shake if something happens to USAir, Indy Air....or United for that matter AD

Could XJT have something up there sleve?

I have heard they recently bumped up the training classes from 2 to 4 classes a month with a min of 16 in each class. Rumor has it they are hoping the contract gets signed and then will announce something. They also were supposed to change there wings and bars to something without the CO logo.

Who knows ????

Who knows is right. However, we have changed a lot more than our logos since the IPO. We're being told that the wings, ID changes, etc are at mainline CAL's request. Basically identifying the companies as two such seperate ones. As for other rumors, the ones we're hearing concern the USAir E170's. Some think we will take on some of their future delieveries, converted from the 145's. Lastly the increase in classes are a direct result of pilot recalls at mainline CAL. A recent adjustment bid shows that they will recall a lot more than initially expected. This creates staffing issues at XJT, thus creating additional new hire positions, and so on and so on....................

just talked to my buddy at Air Whisky, what a tough thing to take...This Sh-t has to end...pretty soon we're all gonna be using the call sign Air Shuttle or Chautauqua...well not him, and not me...some people on the board have been saying "the race for the bottom has started" for a realy long time and now it is more evident than ever..Over here at DCI and now at UALExpress...USAir started all this by using cheap labor, and look where it is gettiing them...(Nowhere!!)...

It's one thing to just flat out work at a company that doesn't pay as much(JetBlue) but its an entirely another matter when you work for a company that works for peanuts so they can win contracts and in the end put others on the streets..

JetlinkPark..

Don't know how much its worth but since I'm on a Chautauqua rant anyways....Spoke with a friend of mine this week...he has heard over at Chautauqua that they may be gearing up to do some CAL flying in the near future...

I don't know anything about CAL or Expresses contracts etc.. but he made it sound like they may be gearing up for some pretty hefty aircraft orders, and not just on the Delta side..

Nothing would surprise me at this point sleeve. However, if our TA passes next week I think our pilot cost (wages) would be pretty darn close to the guys at CHQ. I know more goes into the equation, but considering our relationship, I doubt that anyone would take our place in the near future. If they do it won't be in EWR, IAH, or CLE until 2007 (via our agreement with CAL). And we're starting LAX flying for CAL next month, so it looks like we'll continue to serve them systemwide for now.

Again, nothing would surprise me.

Gee,

Why am I not in an upgrade class then!?! Don't read into this too much. Xjet has an anchor firmely attached to CAL which, despite our management ineptitude, is the slowest sinking ship right now. BTW, yes CHQ/Mesa/Skywest will be coming soon to a Continental "Jet" Connection near you...

Best of luck to you Air Willy guys. This is outright BS and can happen to any of us in this business.

Rightrudder,

"UAL is certainly paying us back well for being so loyal."
UAL doesn't even see their own as loyal...pilots, f/a's. management etc. They are going for the jugular everywhere. This will spread over the entire industry even if you are not tied to a major. There is no way to stop it unless the employees of all airlines act together and I just don't see that happening.
UAL is asking pilots for another 18% pay plus work rules and termination of their retirement plan on top of the 40%(not quite sure on that number) they already took. I read a news article that said UAL's 747 senior captains will make less than a senior SWA 737 cap.!!

This **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** is here to stay for awhile. Decide now if you are willing to stay. If it hasn't come your way yet...it will.
