Good job UND. Still love to have a few pitchers at Bucks when I am in town.

That's funny..... But some scores were well deserved. They had a video at the banquet, it was hilarious. It was a re-cap of the week edited with humor. One aircraft landed way outside the box, they then showed a clip from Major League when the drinking announcer shouts...JUUUUsssssstttt A little outside..

I think that was probably my landing if it was long... at least I didn't land in the grass, I heard one school did that. As I mentioned before I had food poisoning during the practice days and I had never flown a 150 in my life before I got to Ohio... At regionals I did landings in a 172. By the time of the power off heat that made the video I had only .4 in that airplane and all of it was at the Marysville airport, not KOSU. Considering all that, I didn't miss the box by that much... the second landing (Obviously the one that didn't make the video!) was way better... if there had been 3 landings allowed I would have been a contender.

I envy the schools that can fly their own planes out there and compete in them... You guys that can do that are lucky. I don't envy them paying 180$ an hour for a 172 though ;).

Oh we definitely got a few schools' "good" landings that didn't show up on that video. ;)
I do feel bad for those of you who can't bring your own planes. And that's not cool that you had to switch to a different make/model.

Who else was watching the NASA-TV-esque projector screen inside the hangar? I thought that was awesome! Unfortunately I wasnt able to compete in my short field landings because they called the event at heat 17....I was heat 18! GRRR! The same thing is true about msg drop! I hate weather!

I was heat 24 in both Message drop and Short field. Oh well ;)

It was definitely my landing. On the other hand there were a couple landings on that video that were wayyyy worse than mine so I don't feel so bad ;).

Good job UND. At least this time when you guys went there, yah didnt buzz, hit the power lines and crash into the might Miss like they did when I was there. What an embarrassment. Is that arrogant Kent Lovelace still there? What a tool.

Great pic :) Now how can that be topped next year? hmmm

I can see it now...a complementary OSU/SAFECON 2007 'waterpipe' cover....

Greetings all-

Big congratulations to UND on the championship. OSU, I've heard nothing but good things about how smoothly the event was ran, and, from a past NIFA President, I know that is by no means an easy task. Are there any of this year's officers on the board?

And hey, if the weather was rough, I guess Kansas State probably wouldn't mind hosting it again...Although the weather here is pretty darn volatile, too. I think during last year's competition it was in the 40's every single morning, and we had a couple of days with rain. Ahh, such is life.

By the way, that video is impressive. Way to go.

Yes, a few of us read this. :)

Now if the other UND can bring home a national championship this fall/winter that will make life worth living again.

Good deal...How were you able to pull off the projection screen from the runway in the hangar? I know at Salina, we would have needed several miles of extension cords for such a thing, not to mention the need to bolt our camera to a 200 lb. hunk of lead in order to handle our infamous wind....

And by the way, this is some big attention you guys are getting here! Do you know for sure as to whether or not you'll be hosting next year? If so, any change in the officers, or are you just going to "gut it out" again?

No more retarded than SuperKooter.

Careful there slugger, you have no idea how many people you work with and know, are or have been a part of that.

In regards to the video feed to the hangar, I'll leave the details of that up to super-techie, Spudskier.

As far as next year, I was suprised it wasn't announced at the banquet. (Or maybe it was, but I was rather busy...) Unoffcially, yes, we are hosting again next year. No word on the officers situation yet - we all want to be involved in some form or another, but jobs may take some of us elsewhere by that time. Just difficult to say at this point.

Rather busy? Surely not!! Props for the possibility of being repeat officers...It would have been very difficult for me to do that again due to burnout issues, but it's an experience that I will never forget or regret!
