Look at this BS. I know SH has been running around talking about this for a while, but this is a nice FU to the guys here that have been trying for a delta interview for years.

UND has established a career path partnership with Atlantic Southeast Airlines and Delta Airlines.
The program will select UND aviation students in their junior year for employment as Atlantic Southeast Airlines first officers. The students must pass tests, maintain minimum grade point averages and complete pilot ratings and other courses during the program.
They also will be monitored by the airlines throughout their education and must serve as a flight instructor.
Students in the program who meet the requirements will receive a conditional offer of employment, and eventually be offered an interview with Delta Airlines

The company is announcing a bridge program at the same time they are talking about COMA & displacements. Interesting.

Obviously planning for that shortage, so can't really fault the company. Timing is everything in this business so stop getting your panties in a wad.

This article from the local news just says that it COULD lead to a job with Delta, not that it would lead to a job. Just like a job at any regional could lead to a job at American, United, Delta etc....

UND will be working with two airlines to help aviation students get jobs after graduation, the university said Friday.

Delta Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, which fly several routes for Delta, and the university will create defined career paths for students interested in flying for the companies.

Aviation students would be selected for the program during their junior year and monitored by ASA during their education. Program participants would be employed by ASA as first officers.
Students who meet requirements would receive a conditional offer of employment from ASA. Serving as a flight crew member for ASA could lead to a job with Delta Airlines for these students.

Aviation students would be required to pass a number of tests and maintain a minimum grade point average. They would also need to receive several flight certifications and complete UND’s advanced jet training courses. Serving as a flight instructor is also a stipulation of the program.

Simple enough. When super pilot shows up, don't let them fly or talk on the radio. When all the stars align and Delta calls them up for their shot at the big league, let's see how they do then.

they've already hired some from Western Mich "minority" program

This is the only the begining folks. In the next five years I predict they wont even go to regionals - they will go right to delta. Leaving us slave workers to stay at the regionals that wont be able to find pilots.

Or, you could just move on to a major as well.

I can just see it when they're at Delta flying with the crusty Captains...

Yea boy let me tell you stories from when I was at uNd... we used to have these classes called FMS101s where we used to sit and simulate actual flights it was a blast. Sometimes ATC would give us re-routes and we would simulate real world scenarios. We used to sit for hours at a time eating pizza and taking about how we would end up at Delta or even Fedex. Ohh boyy

This sounds much like the famous und-Northwest "Spectrum" program. The NorthWest pilots union shot that down leaving Mesaba having to take these turds. I think it was only like 12-14 but ask around you'll get how they were hand picked to fly the Avro...

Wow. Nice to see it's NOT Pinnacle doing this crap for once. :)

In all honesty, though, by the time you have the times to be considered, I think anyone with a pulse can get an INTERVIEW at Delta. Getting a job....that's different.

I seriously don't understand why they were so adamant about getting rid of the flows at Mesaba and Compass if they were so worried about finding pilots.

Because all the Compass and XJ flows are over 35 yrs old and have more than 6000 hrs. If you fit this profile; you are not getting hired at Delta.

Scott also said there would be an opportunity for current pilots. I asked him that question personally. They just hired 600 compass pilots with no experience anyway what is the difference?

So they want all their pilots to be the same age so this will happen again when they all retire? Also, they restricted the flow to only accept those guys, not the younger ones. Either way. I will just go the old fashioned route I guess: hope the guy I have on the inside can walk my stuff in to get an interview.
