What is the difference between mainline and these spin-off LCCs?

I don't know much, but it seems to me this is mainline's attempt at B scale wages, and a new name and paint scheme is supposed to make it o.k.

Is there any real difference between mainline and their LCC? They are flying the same planes with the exception of the wide-bodies, right?

Clear as mud,
Eric

From a United board:

"It's kind of ironic but about 9 months or so ago when the LCC talk started there was a joke going around among employees as to what it would be named. The joke went like this:

Have you heard what the low cost carrier is gonna be called?

No, what?

Ted

Huh?

Ted, cause it's not gonna include U n' I."
