They wouldn't only sell the gates; everything would be on the block if/when FLYI liquidates.
United's primary interest would be the A gates, and perhaps some ground equipment.
I don't know where you heard that the Airbus leases are the lowest in the industry; I'd question your source on that since FLYI did not take delivery of very many (12). United, Northwest, USAirways, JetBlue, etc, with their purchasing power would almost certainly have better leases than FLYI.
