Closed IAD's Rwy 30 for what the ops center said was a fire on the A-320. Any confirms? It happened around 330pm on Sunday!

I was able to see the event unfold while waiting in the hold block. It was an airbus, and they evacuated the a/c via the slides. All the equipment was there and the pax were all loaded into the people movers and taken back to the gate. We couldn't see exactly what the problem was, but a ramp agent said it was a brake fire. They towed the a/c clear of the runway and parked it in the hold block. We couldn't find out much more.

No big deal. UAL management was burning the loan notes for money they owed everybody before Chap.11 and it got out of hand. Too much paper.

Had to hold while it was going on. I asked the ramp tower guy what was up he said it was an engine fire that occured about 1500 ft down the runway on t/o roll.
