Did both of these companies actually furlough pilots yet? If so, how many.

Did any America West pilots get furloughed? The ones hired around 2004?

Thanks,...

175 West pilots furlouighed or took leaves/125 on the east side. The East pilot group is twice the sixe of the West group.

But that darn Nic was SUCH a windfall for the West......

Sarcasm alert. Just in case the Internet Apsberger's is kicking in.

SFR is just another flamer trolling for attention. He's a CAL puke who does everything he can to diminish our profession both here on FI and at his job at CAL.

Right SFR?

THEY NEED TO GET RID OF ALL OVER 50. most of all navy guys. THIS AN'T A SHIP. You killed my pitch man on landing. and you bitch about us low time commuter folks.

UAL has been furloughing for at least 9 months. About 900 or so so far. 1450 total by years end.

Anyone remember back in the day...around '98 or so when FI had professionals instead of f*cking idiots?

Oh, now I see why Regional guys get labeled immature and unprofessional.

"Your pitchman" died at home, of heart disease, not on landing.

So go suck down some more Slim Jims, crack a World of Warcraft mountain dew, and do us all a favor by stepping back from the keyboard.

It really isn't that good, so it is more of a punishment.

What rock have you been sleeping under?

Yeah, I do. But then, that was pre-economic meltdown, pre-9/11, and EVERYBODY was hiring with nobody on furlough. Not excusing it, but just trying to explain how those things have embittered many on FI.

I guess my own world in Bentwater. I don't pay too much attention to the rest of the industry unfortunately, I just care about CAL. (I barely know what is going on here)

Sorry to hear of so many furloughs. How far back do the UAL ones go? I know someone hired in April 2000, would he be working or not?

Yeah, I do. But then, that was pre-economic meltdown, pre-9/11, and EVERYBODY was hiring with nobody on furlough. Not excusing it, but just trying to explain how those things have embittered many on FI.

I remember those days.... it's when I decided to chuck it all and pursue a career in aviation!

If I had known then what I know now.... still life isn't awful, just not what I had hoped financially. Everything else is better than I could have imagined.

What is wrong with it. I think making 6 figures is good for working 15 days per month, or less...

Not many make 6 figures these days.

How far down %-wise do the UAL furloughs go when it hits 1400? That's got to be like 25% or more.... freaking unreal.

UAL

I was hired 8/99 and will get the Ax this winter.

I did get 3 more Type Ratings from United since 2006.

For United MX at ORD, you need 89 seniority to still be on the property there. And yes that 89 is not a typo. 20 freaking years with a company and you're still the low man at the station. Good luck to all furloughed or soon to be.

Sorry to hear that, I did not know it was so bad there.

Unfortunately, 3 type ratings won't pay any bills. They are barely worth the paper written on.

Good luck

How not? If you are at a major with a few years seniority you are probably making 100k+

Guess you are a 'rocket scientist' but was not a math major, so will help you out; go to APC (airline pilots central) and just do the simple math.

Then come back here and just admit it was a 'stupid statement.'

If you were truly serious.

For what its worth.

Ok, it is simple math. $103 blended rate on 756 year 5. I got paid 920 hours last year. = 92000. Plus 12.75% B fund, which adds another $12000 or so.

$104k to me....... you are right moron, simple math.

Hahahahahahahahah! Pre-9/11 sure, but not now.

Hmmm.. I have friends hired in 2005 that made 100k plus last year.. and will this year too.

That is funny isn't it.

Here is something else funny. I jumpseated on UAL in 2000 with a newhire in the jumpseat next to me. 737-200 going from CMH to ORD. He was doing observation. He was the most arrogant a-hole. I wonder how arrogant he is now. He was ex-Chataqua

Sorry to UAL folks, but I do not want you guys/gals to drag us down in any potential merger. I want nothing to do with you. I think I speak for most CAL guys, especially the "scabs" I fly with in IAH....even though most are 87 hires and Frontier folks...
