Also, it should be pointed out that those professional pilots on here that "kill dreams" are not doing so... they are giving the young pilots or pilot hopefuls on the board a clear sense of what this career path is about. It's better to go into this aviation career, whether airlines, corporate, or whatever other path, with a full understanding of what you are undertaking. If you go into a career with rose colored glasses, you will be disappointed.

Archer, Citationkid, other wannabees......

Take the above words from FlyChicaga very seriously, they are 100% correct and true. We are not "dream-killers" we are preparing you that one day you WILL go to work and realize you:

A. Want more money......
B. Are no longer content flying a 402......
C. Are sick of a 24 hour on-call period........
D. Wonder how much more SIC time you can put in your logbook before it just starts becoming worthless to you.......

Shall I go on?

I have to disagree with this statement. I know for a fact there are guys flying single engine turbines that are home every night and make this kind of money (and more) annually.

Realy? What kind of airplane? I have seen drug spraying jobs in Columbia in the AT801 for a lot of money, but Columbia isn't the best place to live.

There are still some good jobs out there. I also know a guy who made considerably more than this flying a single engine turbine. Worked about 6 months and was home every evening and off most weekends. Oh yeah, he is also off for the entire winter. Don't be afraid to dream. QOL is made up of lots more than money. Decide what you want to do and be the best you can be at it. Make contacts and get along with people. Opportunities will come!

Quest labs pays fairly well between 50-70K From what I hear and they fly TBM's and Kingairs.

Archer.

Do us a favor. Print out all your posts here about the Part 135 and piston twin "dream".

5-10 years from now, pull them out and read them.

$1000 says you will either laugh till you pi$$ your pants or you will beat yourself until you are unconscious.

We are not "anti-flying". We are simply stating reality. We think flying is a pretty good job - but it can be downright terrible when things are not going your way. The negative posts and things you hear about flying are not just from whining pilots. They are from guys who are sick of this business - it can really screw even the biggest dreamers...

I for one am forutunate to not be one of these, but I sure know it could be no more than a heartbeat away.

Good luck to you!

No Kid.

Maybe they stay in the business because they now have responsiblities - a wife and family to support - ya know......

.. maybe they even have a 15 yr old kid who dreams about nothing but going to college and being a professional pilot...

Dont analyze it, just fly it.

You know, I hear that a lot. An operator just sent me back through simuflite on a recurrent, and the classroom instructor kept coming back to that...if you can't do anything about it, you don't need to know about it. Kept saying that everything was PFM, or pure fine magic, as he put it. Said we didn't need to know.

Speaking personally, I'd be dead, a long time ago, if I took such an attitude. Analyzing it and knowing just what that PFM is really doing has kept me alive, and I swear by it.

Judging by your history of posts, we all wonder why you are not dead also!!!!

But we all take them with a grain of salt....as we have come to the conclusion that 90% of it is entertaining bull$hit!! But hey, its the internet....

....enjoyable yes... but pretty far from reality, avbug!!

;) ;) ;)

I have never posted a single iota of imbellishment. I have not lied. I have not posted incorrect information. When offering opinion, something I don't often do, I do so by stating that it's my opinion or that it is my personal conjecture.

Simply because you in a nice tiny safe little small world, don't think that everyone does. There is more to this world than what you see over the bridge of your nose, even when placed to such the elevation that it is now; even past the snow which falls from that elevation upon your feeble brain.

If you can disprove anything I have hereto posted, or care to go there and do the things I've done, by al means, go for it. Until you've been there, and done those things, then you haven't a leg to stand upon. Your pathetic jab means little; earn the respect and I'll be concerned about your comments.

What is it that you think is "bull$hit!!", anyway? Care to be specific?

Now, you bean brained pathetic two bit four flushing pusnutted clodhopping nearsighted baffoon, I made a rational intelligent statement regarding one who professes ignorance (don't analyze it, fly it); your response was a direct attack that related nothing to the post. Surely you can do better.

I'm glad you speak for the masses, as "all of us" wonder why I'm not dead. I don't think you do speak for everyone, but you save me the trouble of addressing all those who wish or wonder about my deminse. I'm not dead. I'm still here. And I'll still be here tomorrow to fight what you fear, fly the places you won't go, and do the things you can't conceive of doing. And I'll still be grateful for the opportunity to do it, and to get paid to do it.

Too bad you can't say the same, mate. Thanks for playing.

Holy sh*t! Archer's back! And apparently back with the same old questions.

folks, this is what happens when you hang out with your mommy all the time.

You see what happens when you spend too much time away from the board? You miss hilarious comments like this! LMAO! :D :D

Hey D,

JetPilot500 and I enjoyed a nice 1st class Brazilian BBQ Lunch today, where were you???

We were thinkin' about you, though... we were like "Hey, wasn't BigD supposed to be here too!?!?!?!"

reeelax avbug.

I do apologize if calling your bluffs here was too much. Maybe it was a little uncalled for.

LOL...well I'd certainly be there if someone could score me a jumpseat on your plane! :D

You leave me sir, no choice, but to apologize.

The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. (But not by much).

Yes bigD I'm back and the first thread I start in over a year has 55 replies to it and a couple fights of peopel trying to reach for their throats again.

Wow, this board keeps it's reputation with people that just love each other doesn't it? Well, just something to keep ignoring, and get one with the discussions about flying.

You know what, I'm very curious to know what I'll be posting here in 5 or 6 years...when I might be sitting left seat on a 402.

So how about we talking of something positive...and like gentlemen at least on the Anniversary of 100 years of flight?

for example...I cam acorss www.flyaviator.com

and they advertise 59.99/hour for renting a Duchess...and getting 100 hours in it for 6 grand...

now, what do you guys think of this? is "safety pilot PIC time" implied? what's the deal? cause that how much you pay usually for a 152

Archer
