Update: looks like no settlement is imminent:
Dear Class Members,
The mediation on March 12th concluded without a settlement, although we anticipate meeting again on April 27th with ALPA and the mediator for continued settlement discussions. Because of the confidentiality provisions by which we are bound, we unfortunately cannot provide with you any additional details concerning the mediation. We have a status conference with Judge Irenas on Friday, March 23rd, and intend to ask the Court to rule on the post-trial motions. We will always remain open to continued settlement negotiations with ALPA but see no reason to delay any longer a ruling on the post-trial motions. We will post another update following our conference call with Judge Irenas.

3 miller lights and a box of cheezits.
I believe Moak has stated publicly that he will not do that. Hell a lot of ALPA members were not even members, hell some werent even pilots, in 2000-01 when all of this was going on.
If ALPA attempts to assess current members for this, the de-cert bell will be ringing EVERYWHERE and ALPA knows this.
Heck the need for a surety bond alone could bankrupt ALPA. If the TWA pilots prevail and get anywhere close to what they are asking for one has to wonder how ALPA will stay "in business"
Chapter 11 just like an airline. Renegotiate their obligations just like anybody else in chapter 11 and move on. Other than insurance ALPA doesn't have much in the way of assets.
