Turbo commander PIC position at 10 minutes away driving vs Republic ERJ at 6 hours away flying. Commander is better on schedule and pay. What should I do?

Doesn't Republic require you to sign a 45 year contract to baby-sit the mighty ERJ?

The real question is, do you want to work for Air France?

Camembert

Doesn't sound like much of a dilemma. With only the info you provided you should be in a padded room if you choose the airline!

It's 44 years on the contract if you're a Delta Connection Academy graduate... cuz as you know.... being owned by Delta means *E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G*!!!!!!!!

The Turbo Commander gets my vote. Pay's more, better schedule and more importantly, gets you PIC turbine time! Worth a whole lot more then gear monkey time:(. Yeah, it's not glass, but have you ever seen an operator specifically ask for glass experience (there are some but very few).

You do worry me a bit though for having to ask this question:D Goodluck!

It all looks the same from up there, choose the QOL. RAH has been pretty good to me, but to be 10 minutes away from your jobby job (my commute is a 20 minute flight or a 4 and a half hour drive) is pretty sweet.

How much are you going to be flying in the Commander? Is it a "stable" job? Where do you want to be in 5 yrs? 10 yrs? Driving 10 mins to work & always flying with your favorite captain doesn't suck. Turbo commanders look like fun airplanes. Go fly it for a year & if it blows, then go to an airline. They'll still be hiring.

Go for PIC

Go for PIC, Turbo Prop PIC is worth more on your resume than Turbo Jet SIC. Plus, the TC is a pilots airplane, you will love flying it! The ERJ is a programed airplane that you watch fly. Go with the TC, you will be better pilot for it.
