This isn't true. Cessna made turbocharged 310's from the time they discontinued the C320 in 1967.
The T310P, T310Q, and T310R were all equipped with TSIO-520 engines. More than likely, qwerty is speaking of a T310Q, I don't know of any aftermarket turbonormalizing modifications for the normally aspirated versions. One way to tell the differnce between a 310 and a T310 is the exhaust. The normally aspirated 310 (P thru R) have 2 shrouded exhaust stacks running parallel under each nacelle. The T310's have one large diameter (about 3 1/2" dia) overboard stack pointing straight down under each nacelle, and a smaller curved wastegate stack.
Most, but not all, normally aspirated 310's had the IO-470 engines you mentioned. The 310 thru 310B had O-470's, and the 310R had IO-520's
