AIRPORT SCREENER SHAKEUP
The New York Times reports that contractors who inspect passenger
identification at airport checkpoints will be replaced with staff
members from the Transportation Security Administration. Homeland
Security Secretary Michael Chertoff made the announcement Sunday.
The announcement came as the TSA eased restrictions on items
that were banned from being taken on board airplanes in carry-on
luggage. Details of the plan are still being worked out; however,
Chertoff tells the Times the TSA screeners would be trained in
psychological profiling under the plan.
