This would be the greatest thing to happen. Get rid of that joke of an agency. All we did was take a privatized industry and slap a federal label on it, and stripped away many, MANY rights of the american traveller. With no gain in true security or confidence whatsoever.

And I might start a flame-war here, but I'll stand behind my comments 110%. TSA isn't going to stop another terrorist attack. Period, end of story.

As the great George Carlin stated one time "Airport security is only there to make white people feel better, that's all it is."

With all that said though, I can't imagine where the government would scrap TSA. That's almost impossible to fathom after all the infrastructure, money spent, and reputation they have to uphold. But one can always hope.

Well, joke or not, they keep you a bit more safe than before.

You put down the TSA a bit to much. How often are you in "major" airports?

I've seen plenty of douchebags get caught and or turned away by the TSA.

You're not kidding. Why, last month some crack member of the TSA caught me trying to secret my toenail clipper/nail file past their battery of magnetometers, gamma rays, and bomb sniffers. Instinctively, and with battle honed reaction times, he responded : "Hold it, hold it right there. Is this your bag" ? Sheepishly, I admitted to the infraction, and was ordered out of line and subsequently detained until I agreed to surrender my weapon of mass destruction.

Don't tell me the skies aren't safer.

Oh yeah, and later in the day, this same airport was shut down for 2 hours while they searched for some goon with a handgun, who had inexplicably breached their security.

Slow250. If a guy had a gun in an airport, would you want them to just give up?

The main benefit of the TSA is command and control IMO. That is unless you think that some airport cop is going to save yo arse when rahib demands fuel and save travel to havana....

I'm in the major airports just enough for them to pi$$ me the f##k off everytime I'm there...

And if I have to take my shoes off ONE MORE TIME to prove I don't have a stick of C4 stuck in the heels!!!!!

You're right metro. As a former Navy rent-O-cop. You go into the job nice and with a good attitude. Then it goes away after you get burnt once, and you become a dick. You don’t care about excuses ( I just GOT to do my nails on the plane), because you hear it a million times on your shift. Your only goal is to go home alive, and CYA. As long as everyones crying about TSA. I'm happy with em.
Are they efficient? Hell no nothing with the government is.

Getting rid of the TSA would be the best thing that could happen to the aviation industry. All they do now is try to justify their existence by scaring travellers. I'm all for federal oversight of the checkpoints for consistency, but the TSA isn't consistent itself.

No, we need to keep the TSA as it is. It is the best form of job security corporate and charter pilots have. While charter aviation does have to deal with the TSA, its deaing are small overall and effect passengers to a very small degree.

It's an MSNBC story that Drudge linked.

You are the moron.

TSA has some nice people, but the morons running the show need to go. When the sign says, shoe removal optional, but the goon decides that your slippers needs to be removed, it becomes irrational. In CMH the idiot made me run my doughnut thru the magnetometer, but allowed the coffee. I bought them 10 feet from the machine. In the trash they went.

I don't think TSA needs to go, but it sure needs major renovation in personnel and in ways of thinking.

i am not going to do this with you, bob. maybe it's just me, but the few times that i've visited his website i have found stories that were not linked elsewhere that were just sensationalistic drivel. i can't remember exactly what the details were, but he had written a story about airbus or the A380 that was just bad journalism.

but again, that just must be my experience.

MCO for you...sssssssucks!

I now get dressed at the gates...come bare footed, t-shirt with badges, shorts....carry good cloths in a cheap throw away garment bag...run through the scanner....get secondary searched most of the time due to non-rev...yea...MCO for you....Go to bathroom and get dressed for work, trash the garment bag...

I watched a poor guy, 40'ish in a nice suit this morning have to strip to his undershirt because he needed and asked for a "hand pat-down" as he had a pacemaker or something...these TSA idiots still had him walk through the "GD" machine...of course it went off and the poor guy freaked out because he thought his pace maker was going to zap him.....then they made him remove his belt, socks and proceeded to feel him up including his private area's!! Jesus how far are these people going to go, Until they ruin this business and the passengers find another way to do their business.
