Has anyone else seen this cr@p "news"?

New security screening equipment installed at CVG, MSP, JAX, NEW, SRQ and TUL September 20, 2011. A new security screening device called AT2, or Advanced Technology 2, has been installed at the following airports: CVG, MSP, JAX, NEW, SRQ and TUL. The AT2 equipment detects specific prohibited items, including liquids, gels, aerosols, organics and shields, and if detected in a passenger’s bag, a secondary inspection of the items will be conducted using a set of LCD display monitors.
If the AT2 alarms for a crew member in uniform, the officer will return the property to the crew member and allow them to proceed into the sterile area. Crew members’ items will not be required to undergo the additional screening. In an effort to expedite the screening process, crew members should be sure to remove any liquids, gels or aerosols from their bag(s) and send them through separately.

How ridiculous. We've gone through how many criminal background checks just to get the job and still have to deal with TSA's nonsense. Good thing you were able to take a look at my extremely hazardous AquaFresh, now all is secure and I feel safer.

Wait you're telling me that I'm at the controls of this plane and there's a what behind my seat?! Nah, you're right TSA, the toothpaste and shaving cream is what's dangerous. Idiots.

I is TSA agent and Rules is rules

I commute from CVG and I was going to work and my husband was with me on his way to visit his mom. He pulls out his "gel pack" and walks through with no hassle. I, in full uniform, with my items all in one toiletry kit, in one place in bag have my bag pulled to be "reviewed." 4 minutes go by while they muck around with 3 other people only to have a TSA agent look back at me and say, "Oh, is that one yours?" (Yeah, the one that says CREW all over it.) "Yes, it is." "Here you go."

I'm not doing this. I already have to take out my laptop so with the charts and bag I've got three damn things going through the x-ray. Add another bin full off all the food I pack in my bag and my toiletries and a crew member is now taking the time about 3 regular pax would take to get through the checkpoint.

i dont understand why crew has to go thru at all. WE are the weapon on the plane, plus you have a gun in the cockpit.

tsa is retarded

Wait a second... the reason liquids are "banned" is because they could be explosives in disguise.

However this new machine doesn't detect explosives... it detects toothpaste and shaving cream? YGBSM.

You're assuming they know how to read!

What ex-TSA Director lobbied to get this contract approve with the Advanced Technology Inc? I bet this guy even had stock in the company. Like the L2 scanners, it has nothing to do with safety, and everything to do with making money. Lobbying the right people, and people profitting off from the government being 'forced' to buy these trash equipment pieces.

Expedite screening????? If I don't want to be there, I want to make sure TSA doesn't want me there. That is precisely why I take my sweet time. If I need additional screening, it's off to a private room, out of view we go, with several TSA staffers. I comply, but am a PITA while I do it.

How about NO

Just like now I'm going to make going through security as painful as possible.

It's OK, they have only spent 58 Billion dollars since they started, what's a few more billion?

I think the dog-and-pony show is over, at least at CVG. Went through there a couple times in the last few days with crap strewn throughout my bags with no problem. I think they may have been shown the folly of their ways after a few days of experience with a de-hubbed airport with a slew of commuting crews!

Oh, and the "crew lane" at CVG is a JOKE! I got a pleasant ear-full from a disgruntled pair of pax when I jumped up to join my crew at the x-ray. I stood my ground and pressed on in front of the sad-sacs anyway. His snippy comment afterwards about how flight crews are 'loved all over' for doing this only made me want Known Crewmember to roll-out even faster so as not to deal with this craaap!

Sounds like a walk in the park compared to the complete absence of crew lanes at LGA. At least there weren't a few years ago. Try blasting your way in front of a bunch of New Yorkers in a hurry.

I have noticed a lot more pax that are getting upset at us hopping to the front of the line. I thought that was "the deal."

"Sir, I think this is as stupid as you do. I don't have the power to change it, but your congressman does. Please call him."

Repeat as necessary.

First off, we we all - en mass - refused to cut and stood in long line, delaying departures then the airlines would force a change or deal with late flights nationwide every day.

Next, I thought as crew members, we were exempt from the liquids/gels ban?!?!? Why on earth then, are we subject to these machines??? Our company has told us we now have to keep our liquids separate for inspection. What's up with this crap?

Lastly, I thought crew pass was to be expedited nationwide after that body scanner fiasco! Whats going on here?!?!?!?

Problem is, some of our duty in locations are the gate, and not the curb or ticket counter. So do we cut in line, or leave the hotel 10-15 minutes earlier so we can all stand in line with the passengers?

I just tell them "All employees go to the front of the line, including crewmembers." I usually get the ******************************y roll of the eyes from the comment-maker, indicating that he acknowledges he has not been slighted by a self-entitled airline pilot, and also indicating that he is in fact a ******************************bag.

LGA does have crew lines.. I'm told by TSA to use them even when I'm in line without a uniform while commercialing.

Love it, ZoneJumper!

Delta Term doesn't have crew lanes, but they are pretty good about moving us up.

The beatings will continue until morale improves, or until you no longer desire to act like a human with certain unalienable rights.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced 29 airports which are set to receive recently purchased millimeter wave Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) machines. The machines will be deployed with new automated target recognition software designed to enhance privacy by eliminating passenger-specific images while improving throughput capabilities and streamlining the checkpoint screening process.
"We remain committed to implementing technologies that strengthen passenger privacy while ensuring the highest level of security," said TSA Administrator John S. Pistole. "In addition to improving the passenger experience at the checkpoint, advanced imaging technology continues to give us the greatest opportunity to detect and deter evolving threats to aviation."

TSA plans to deploy units to the following airports in the coming months:

- Akron-Canton Regional (CAK)

- Albany International (ALB)

- Austin-Bergstrom International (AUS)

All are apparent hotbeds of "liquids in carryons" activity. Especially Hilo and Kalahui, you see water bottles attempting to sneak on all the time..... great use of my tax dollars, not.
