Hey, wondering if anyone out there has any advice on getting the call for an interview. I know you need to know someone. I feel really cheesy about going out and looking for someone who works there to help me get in. I live in the suburb of Allen Park, MI. Captain for Express jet. About 800 pic EMB145. I'm only interested in working for Spirit, like the flying they do, and love the fact I wouldn't have to commute anymore.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Christian Mooradian

Never too early to start jumpseating on us to get to know the DTW boys. Then once that magical 1000 hours PIC happens you can fire off a hard copy of your resume to your contact to get the ball rolling......

Good Luck to you Christian hope you get on soon, things are getting interesting around here :)

BTW your request was anything but Cheesy :)

Come to work for USA Jet, there is pipe line into the Spirit, we have about 35 pilots working there who are ex-USA Jet. Interviewing for DC-9 F/O's for a August class.

Is it getting that scarce out there at USA Jet Yip?!

Although every USA guy I have run into here have been good eggs :)

Try LGA overnights

(I'm XJT too) I've only had short overnights there myself, but I hear all the Spirit guys like to hang out in the hotel bar. Been told they're a good group of guys to hang with. Hey, it's an excuse to go out drinking, right?

Shrek, not at all filling our classes. But we are hiring DC-9 F/O's off the street for the first time in 5 years. Someone ask how to get an interview at Spirit, I just gave an answer that seem to work for a lot of pilots.

You need an excuse?! :)

I was told today that the internal minimums are 4000TT and 1000TPIC with glass and FMS experience...FWIW

really? whats your source? not saying your wrong but just like to know where you heard that? 4000 with fms seems a little high to me. trying to get an interview also but heard hiring is slowing? is there anyone that can confirm any of this?

Wrong

Mike, I know that is not true, I know of three pilots hired this year who not meet all of those requirements. Unless you count the DC-9 as a glass cockpit, because it has a glass bezel over every one of the analog dials. Of course then again if you come through the USA Jet pipeline you may not need that stuff.

They hired me with low hours and only t.prop time but it seems like it s going to change.
I actually heard the competitive times for future classes were gonna be as follows:
6-8000 hours with 1000 turb. PIC and FMS exp.

Good luck to everyone

But no college degree required

I asked the HR person about me walking in a resume...she said as long as he has 4000TT and 1000TPIC I'll take a look at it...again FWIW.

Well, I do have all those, live local, just lack that LOR. Hopefully they'll expand their search soon. Would love to be based where I live for a change.

Thanks, for all the info. Turns out the FO I'm currently flying with has a class date over their at Spirit. He has a connection. Hopefully he will give me the hook up that I'm looking for. But I don't want to count on it. As far as I'm concerned, the more I have the better. As for the time thing goes. I meet those unpublished minimums, except for the PIC one. At about 830 now, I'll have 1000 in another month or two.

Thanks again,

Christian

He has a class date?
do you know when?

I think they were telling him around the 1st week in August. Not set yet in stone. He mentioned they were working on getting a bunch of upgrades done first.

Officially the training department is gearing up for a September class (*and beyond)...according to the ground instructors. They have also "hired" (internal line pilots who will work as various instructors) about 10 new training department folks. The new folks still have to go through training department training.

Anybody know how long it takes to possibly get a call if your resume has been walked in and you meet the internal mins?
Thanks!

Why would u want to work with a bunch of mary's?

NK's golden 125 worked OT when the bottom was on furlough three years ago - beware!
