Anybody have any suggestions as to where I should take my wife for a few days of drunken, sunburnt splendor? I've been looking on perx.com, and there are just too many to choose from without some insight. I'm looking for inexpensive but not cheap, secluded but not remote . . . know what I'm saying? All-inclusives in the Caribbean, Mexico or Central America come to mind, but I'm open to suggestions. We'll probably go sometime between New Year's and Valentine's Day. Thanks!

Well, the Bahamas are nice, but don't do what I did, and expect them to be very hot during the winter months. I went in February, and it was 65ish and windy all week.

Key West is always nice, nice tempatures, and a lot of cool attractions. (Hemingways house is one I can think of).

As far as being kinda remote, we stayed at the Almond Beach Village in Barbados. The Almond resorts are as close to 5 star as you get. Decent rooms and food, great beaches, snorkeling, kinda cheesey golf course, really good drinks! Lot's of brittish people.

I think Perx has it priced for $79 per night AI.

Cancun is great too, We stayed at the Royal Solaris (5 star) for about that price as well. May be a bit too busy, depends on when you go.

Perx is nice because you can book it with $100 down and the rest is due 30 days prior, so you can pay off weekly, bi-weekly, or whatever. It makes it nice not too put all the money out there all at once.

Good luck, let us know what you decide to go with, I'm always looking for some place new!

Costa Rica, good beer for$1.50, Try Playa Tamarindo on the Pacific coast near Liberia. Airline service to MLIB, rent a jeep, find your own fun. CR is like Hawaii on 1/4 the money...

If you'd like to be off the beaten path: Staniel Cay (MYES), IMO the most beautiful part of the Bahamas/Exumas. Have a look: Staniel Cay Yacht Club

You can either fly in yourself or use their shuttle.

PS: Yes, they do have a Bar/Restaurant, but you might want to bring your own Booze, it's a lot cheaper. :)

just got back from a cruise a few weeks ago. out of the places we went, i would go back to aruba and barbados in a heartbeat. in aruba the locals leave you alone and let you do your thing, not like mexico or jamaica where people are always trying to get you to buy something.(sometimes illegal) boxflyr

I'm partial to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, Belize. Nice, relaxed atmosphere. Great seafood. And best of all, reasonably priced...

I love Costa Rica, but c'mon on, the beer is junk (as well as most of the food).
If good beer is not a high priority, CR is a great getaway. Cheap, warm, and TONS of different things to do. All I did was surf, fish and chase Ticas. DTB and go by yourself!

One of my favorites. I've heard there's a resort in Playa Grande, and Playa Langosta is a housing development. Still, great surf, and the locals are friendly.
Arenal, (sp) the active volcano, is awesome. Nov/Dec is their summer, the best time to go.
Turks and Caicos is an option if you're both divers. Provo also has all-inclusive resorts. Not much scenery (besides Dominican girls;) ). Beaches are great, especially the north end. Forget what the car rental agents say and go!

OK, so "good" might be a stretch... How about "big" beers for $1.50?

I have grown to like Pilsen.

How's CR for a single guy looking to go and party in some warm weather? Easy to get into trouble (both good and bad kind)? I have a pack of days off at the end of the month/beginning of December and am looking for somewhere to go and let loose for a while. Keep the suggestions coming!

If trouble and girls are what you want in CR, stay in San Jose!
Stay sober and go with friends.
How about Brazil?

Well, at least go with friends.
I'll get back to you about Brazil in late Feb. I'm going to load my pocket with fun tickets and go learn the Samba.

Go on a cruise of the western or eastern carribbean and see them all!! Personally, the most wonderful people I ran into was in Cozumel, Mexico. Although they can be very aggresive trying to sell you silver!
