Ok, so it wasn't actually a fire, that's a metaphor, but it was interesting. It's my second IOE flight as captain on the DC-6, departing out of ANC with a full load, #1 starts misbehaving. Ignition analyzer shows that it's a sick, sick engine (not miuch of a surprise at that point) so we feather it and return for a relatively uneventful landing ..D@mn, I'd figured that now with the training and type ride behind me, I was done with having an engine fail on every takeoff, silly me. It got me thinking back to IOE when I was an F/O. It was again about my second IOE flight and on my first takeoff we lost power on an engine at about V1 on a dark IFR night. I wonder; is someone trying to tell me something ?????

A voice is saying "Be at the "F" Street Station Sunday evening - the special starts at 6PM."

If the special's no good, I'm going for the beer-battered halibut myself. :)

That's odd...

Hmm.

Our engines just purr the whole day.

You guys must buy that cheap gas.

"Maynard, This is your tummy speaking. I want the high octane fuel."

Speaking of cheap gas: F Street and that room temperature block of cheese. But the specials *are* pretty darn good.

Fly safe!

Hey, that block of cheese is "For Display Only" ! !

:)

Besides, there's that sheet of saran wrap close by. Hey, that tillamook cheese is my kinda appetizer - - FREE. :)

Tony,

F street's a great idea, unfortunately Sunday evening isn't. Got things going on then, otherwise I'd be up for hoisting a frothy one....and some beer batter halibut. Curses!, foiled again!
