My friend and I are thinking about heading to Mexico next month. The prob is she does not have a passport. Anyone know if it's still ok to go there and back without one and if so, what docs will she need instead. Thanks in advance!

Birth certificate will do.
voter registration card.

A voter registration card is worthless to customs and immigration.. you might as well show them your library card.

birth certificate will do

also if you non rev down be prepared to pay $42 usd departure tax when you leave

Just googled it and a certified copy of birth certificate and current photo ID or a passport are now only accepted documents. Passport will be required if you fly from Mexico to another country.
