Completely True Statement

Guys are ready to leave for just about anything at this point. As far as those training contracts go, as soon as they changed the terms of employment (for the worse) from salary to day-rate, they voided all of those training contracts.

They may threaten legal action against you, but as soon as they changed the conditions under which you signed those agreements, there is not a Judge anywhere that would uphold them.

Of course, if they think they can scare you into paying, you might have to hire an attorney to defend you, but you can always go after your legal fees as well when you counter them.

Frankly, I hope they don't lay off anyone and just let guys leave without conflict. There are a bunch of extremely hard working, highly skilled Pilots working at TMC. They deserve much better than this.

If Management had any HONOR, they would come out and clearly state that anyone who wishes to leave before the end of their Agreement, will be held harmless. This way, anyone that really wants out, will not have anything holding them back, and perhaps, layoffs would not be needed (or at least less of them).

At the very least, Management should make this attempt. I remember working for an On-Demand Charter operation where we had just lost a big contract, and the Chief Pilot put out 2 warning letters within a month of eachother to give us a heads up that cuts were coming. I had an in elsewhere and took another job, the company released me from my training agreement, and the Chief Pilot told me I was not one they planned to layoff, as they were going to layoff the First Officers they felt they could not upgrade, and that by leaving, I just saved another Pilot's job.

Imagine that, a class act from a Part 135 On-Demand Freight operator.

Perhaps TMC could show just as much class. I know the Pilot Managers there have it in them, all they have to do is stand up and do the right thing, even if the bean counter and the boss may not like it. Imagine this: If you stand up for something, maybe the bossman might actually have a little more respect for you?

Unfortunately, the realist in me, believes this entire action has a much greater intent. Namely, cut Captain's who are not willing to fly the airplane in an illegal manner (not writing up significant discrepancies) and then, give those who remain a financial incentive to fly the airplanes illegally. I mean, imagine the conversation in the cockpit: If we write this up now, they will perhaps send us home while the birds in maintenance and we will be getting no pay for those days. Let's just ride it out til the end of the tour. Then you just dump your maint issues on the next crew, perhaps if you have any morals you verbally brief them, and now they have to deal with it. Nice.

Good Luck to the Hard Working Pilots. I know what its like to bust your balls for 15 days straight, while keeping it safe and legal, and keeping the customers happy. I can't imagine how unappreciated you all must now feel.
