Wouldn't make a dang bit of difference. All that would do is force all the CFIs to instruct for another few months until they got the extra few hundred hours and passed one more checkride. Then they'd go to the regionals, still never having flown anything bigger than a Seminole, and still without having flown a whole lot of real-world IFR (a generalization I know, but for many it would be true).CoolSidePillow said:All airlines should do as they did, hire those with ATP minimums. It weeds out those who arent cut out for this and gives them opportunity to get some real operational flying before dumping an FNG on a Captain who has enough to deal with.

They will all ask why anyone would be stupid enough to want to work at GJ's but then in the very next breath tell you what a horrible place TSA is. Makes you wonder who's more stupid. The GJ pilots or the TSA pilots ???
theo said:H25b You are setting me up! I don't believe the GJ pilots are stupid. I think they have seen an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of an airline that more than likely will continue to grow in a segment of the market that is heating up. The TSA pilots on the other hand seem to have no clue, as they had the opportunity to have all of that flying and they turned it down. Then after doing so they want to tell everyone else not to go to GJ because somehow if you do your a bad person.
I originally became involved in this thread because of the issues with the jumpseat which is counterproductive to all pilots best interests. However the more I read from the zealots who post on here criticzing GJs just makes it impossible not to respond with some sort of sanity and rationality as they have neither.
No one of the zealots has ever been able to point out where they had an agreement with TS Holdings to fly any flying Holdings were to start. Because there never was an agreement. They then complain that it is transparent that Holdings can use the GJ club over their head in negotiations and that makes GJ pilots bad. Whenever it is pointed out to them that the same happens between TSA and mainline carriers every day or between TSA and Mesa every day. They seem to think it is different when it really is NOT different at all. By the way I think it is called competition in a free market.
I used to think that eventually they would turn their eye toward the poor union leadership they have there and try and fix the problem. Yet I still hear the zealots defending the local union leadership as the best thing that ever happened to them....Go figure. I can go on but this will be enough to fire up the stupid machine once again. So I will stop for now.

The only real pleasure I get in life comes from taxiing by the GJ pukes while they're on a ground stop to ORD. It gives me a warm, fuzzy, feeling to think about the block or better they don't get.
On a serious note, I would be very careful about coming here as a new hire right now. This company is shrinking quite rapidly and the high attrition is the only reason we haven't furloughed yet. If they suddenyl decide tomorrow to cancel all the new-hire classes (after those guys already quit their jobs) and start furloughing; it wouldn't be the first time an airline has done that.

Something big is in the works, and evidently an announcement sometime in April will answer some of these questions. Anyone that works at TSA should know what announcement i am speaking of. Don't go all Doom and Gloom on TSA just yet.
