Trans States fire @ IND?

As far as I know, we (SKYW) haven't had a problem with smoke/fires in the Brasilia because of leaky DV windows. There are "traps" right below the windows that funnel water out away from the electrical panels. I don't know if the ERJ is the same. Some of the seals aren't great, but usually around 2 psi they'll seal up. Never had one leak in flight.

There is a drain in the bottom of the window track aft. It is beleived that deiceing fluid may have damaged the drain causing water to leak into the electric relays located on the FO's side. Multiple openings of the window damages the seals around the window alowing more fluid to enter the drain when the a/c is not pressurized. Limiting the amount of window openings untill the seals and drains can be fixed is the short term solution. The big question will be how long will it take to fix the window seals. As for the smoke in the cabin from the APU this is probably a pack issue. I have had a cabin fill with smoke and hot air on the ground when the bleed line to the pack came off causing bleed air to enter the cabin around rows 12-13.

The engine fire wasn't in GRR, it was in Madison on the ramp in the middle of the night with brain surgeons working on the problem- fire extinguishers don't work so well without the cowlings to keep it in. Burnt that bad boy right off. I think it was probably still on-line again within a week. That was when the USAirways ops still had one spare. The MSN overnights for USAirways were great- too bad that plug got pulled.
