Very well said. Seems I remember promises about keeping STL
a hub and protecting the TWA jobs. Huge expenses to start
building a new runway to relieve the traffic problems during
poor wx, and AMR leaves the city holding the bag...too bad the
FTC caved in and let AMR buy and ruin yet another airline.
Then again it is just my opinion as an observer.

Well we need to remember that St.Louis would still more than likely be a hub and ALL the TWA employees would still have their jobs if not for that one day in September. And call me crazy, but I would blame those who have turned their backs on air travel, due to an unjustified fear because of that day, before I would blame AMR.
I mean come on folks, it's been over 2 years now. Come out from under your beds and live your lives and put us ALL back to work. It's that 10 % out there we need back.

2nd quarter 2002 TWA LLC, an American
Airlines Company was profitable. This
news in june was followed by AA
anouncing the massive cuts in August
of that year. AA would cut off their
nose to spite their corporate "face"
...and while crying poor hand Don $82M
to not let the door hit him in the
a$$ on the way out! TWA was
generating a positive cashflow and
AA killed it! Say whatever you want
and blame others if you want...or
make excuses for those making the
poor choices. Like most management
in this country, if their promises and
honor were gasoline there wouldn't
be enough gas to get a pi$$ant
sized moped around the inside of a
cheer-i-o. JMHO. You're intitled to
yours. Oh yeah, fu ck the radical
islamic sons of pigs! They did their
part...lets see someone besides our
military do theirs!
Airtran and SWA, do you know how many
people they have on furlough? I forgot,
they seem to be well run...never mind!
Also, is the 800hrs and "should be erj captain"
for real or are you just being smart like my
profile?

hey Belchfire, actually its no joke. I was hired from a flight school by a "regional airline" on 9/7/2001 hows that for timing. And upgrade time was running 2 years and lowering each bid cycle. But I cant land a job now since I dont meet published mins. Didnt start class so no seniority # either.

Ok, now I see where you are coming
from. I tend to take things at face
value...you don't expect to be a rj
CA with 800hrs, you would have been
an rj CA were it not for the way things
have turned...I respect that you made
that clear...and it sucks. I have some
friends instructing that missed the
wave and they are hurting!
I should have had my 1000 turbine pic
in oct 2002, instead of just now, and
have many friends that are feeling the
pain you are feeling now. I spent an
extra year wearing the CA stripes, but
sitting in the right seat on fo pay (and
no, it don't jump like most regionals)...
yeah, some outfits don't give you seat
pay...if you are downgraded, you are
really and truly downgraded!
I walked away from aviation in 93, broke
back in in 98. I have played the second
guess thing so many times I'm glad it's
only in my head and not on tape! Figure
I would be furloughed unless I had gone
to some big freight outfit (which I really
want). Now I just need to get somewhere
I can retire from...
There is alot of pi$$ and vinegar on this
site, which I like...and every once and a
while some insight...and everyone has an
axe to grind. One of mine is management
structures that benifit paper pushers over
the people that get the work done. In
Aviation, that is the crews, rampers, maint-
enance, etc. In the auto plant, the guys
and gals putting stuff together. My view
point is skewed...if it were not for the
labor, there would be no big office to
enjoy. There was a time when one person
was responsible for the financing of an
economic venture. For the most part that
time is gone, and the big cheese at most
large companies had nothing to do with
starting it. Therefore the day to day
management of most companies is not
worth much more than the pay of the
senior grunt, or should be paid on percent
of profit...after all, if someone is willing to
take credit for success they should suffer
if the company is not profitable. I have an
especially dim view of those persons that
have pocketed their profits by sending
manufacturing capability overseas.
That is my rant for today, and you can
all heave a huge sigh of relief, for I have
to go back to work, and my airline can't
afford internet service in the crew room

Sorry, I missed your first reply. It is
well known that when AA renegotiated
the leases on the TWA aircraft things
changed alot...inside information is all
I can say (TW side transition people)
except that of course they
wouldn't break it out...that would have
created all kinds of havoc. TW had gone
through many a winter not knowing if it
would see another spring. They knew
how to run lean and fast, at least as
airlines go.
As to Don C's severance package, that
was well covered on most national news
coming as it did on the heals of AA
seeking wage concessions and threaten-
ing chapter 11.
I have heard of a brodcast titled
"The City that hates American", done by
a Texas TV station. I didn't get
interviewed thank God! But I think that
several people expressed my concerns.
and I want a copy!

is one of my most grievious concerns and
I don't think that it is equitable to allow
that type of violation to continue in this
instance or any other.
And I think that this is a good place to
say (as far off of the thread as we have
trecked) that I bear no animosity to the
rank and file at AA or Eagle. All y'all are
just bearing the bad times with the rest
of us. I just want to make a respectable
living doing something I love for people
who have earned some respect.
